"Does it get more fun than this!?"
No, Rosie. Sadly, it never did.

I'm disappointed. Especially after knowing the names involved.

Directed by Richard-Jay Alexander.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

But Rosie was listed as the exec. producer. She's really the one to blame for that mess.

all I can say is Egads! This goes to show you that live television is very hard. I am sure that it was more dynamic in the theatre (yes it was the Little Shubert).
Seems they were using theatrical lighting which really didn't work for me (or for the television camera), all it did was show all the scuffs on the stage floor.
Didn't know why they used the drive by camera action with the Gravity act. Perhaps the director was on speed or something.
Rosie is not a strong enough performer to host a Carol Burnett style variety show. She should go with more of the Ed Sullivan style where she doesn't perform but just introduces.
Perhaps this is proof that the Variety Show is a thing of the past. If not this definitely killed the genre!

Was the dancing pie left over from the Cry Baby set?

the final production number felt like a bit from The Soup, all it was missing was the Dancing Pad.

What a mess...
I laughed out loud when I saw that Richard-Jay Alexander was involved. Hack...hack...hack.

First off- JerseyGirl2- LOVE the avatar! I love Lainie Kazan and she looks incredible here! Rosie's show was pretty cheesy tonight but if that's what she was going for- then she nailed it! The musical guests were really great. I, too, thought Alanis looked beautiful and even though I'm a big fan and liked the melody of the song- I couldn't really understand the words- the way she was singing that is. I also loved Jane and Kathy. Hate to say it, but I don't know if it will last. Maybe show 2 will give her a chance to wrok out the kinks- or was this a one shot deal?

I just finished it too! I am very disappointed with the show!
BORING & UNINSPIRED! I love Rosie and I hope if she will continue this.. she improves her material. I wish her the best, but unfortunately I did not see the BEST tonight!

I watched "Ghost Hunters" and forgot about Rosie. It sounds like the ghost guys were a lot more entertaining. (In all honesty, while I loved the fact that Rosie supported Broadway on her old show, I really couldn't stand her. She's totally talentless but never lets that fact stop her from attempting to perform.)

As I was saying on the main thread, Alanis was terrible and I loved the rest of it! Or at least liked it.
I am totally in the minority on this?

Probably. Bringing the variety show back is a great idea, but this was a pretty bad execution.

I am not an Alanis fan, what language was she singing in? A few words sounded like English but most were unintelligible.

Phew...I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't understand what she was singing. What was she singing?

Sounds like I should be glad that I watched Pushing Daisies over this.

I've only just started it, but my mouth was agape within ten minutes. This is horrifying. I can't wait to see the rest.

That was horrible! I wanted it to be good, so they could do more...like a holiday special.
