OMG, Clay Aiken. That Cartwheel whack job must have gotten a little moist.
This is better than Bette Midler's Mondo Beyondo.

I am so bummed out about this show. I was so hoping for some great entertainment. I think the whole country could use some cheering up. This was the one time I was thankful that my favorite singer, Clay Aiken, did not sing on a TV show. If he had, I'm sure Rosie would have HAD to sing along. gag!!! My understanding is that as an equity member, Clay was obligated to promote Spamalot, but the bit they wrote for him was beyond stupid. I liked the dancing twins, but why not raise the stage lights at the end so we could see what they looked like. I also liked Harry Connick Jr., but his segment was too short. The rest of the show was just cringeworthy.

The stage was so dark and "artsy" that you couldn't even tell if the twins looked alike.
Maybe they weren't twins at all...

As it was posted on the main board-the perfect word for it is abysmal.

embarassingly, shockingly bad. I'd be surprised if this was even back next week.

I'm late with my comments because I'm watching it on dvr. Alanis-she's singing slowly and clearly, and I still don't know a word she sang. As was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I just started watching and within the first 5 minutes, she offended me with the 'if you had two fathers / high heeled joke."
Nice way to generalize, Rosie.
I won't bother with the rest of it.

Are all women with first names beginning with the letter A getting their jaws wired shut? I couldn't make out a word Alanis sang.

Something awful. Very disappointed here. I remember your thread, a while back, on this show, and who we hoped would be on it. We had hoped for a classy, funny, entertaining show, with a lot of VARIETY. What we got was a second rate comedian TRYING to sing and dance and put herself into every act. To say it was cheesy is an insult to cheese. I love cheesiness, if done right. This show was downright tacky and unentertaining.

This thread is just one hilarious cross-section of Broadwayworld. Just highsterical. Starting with the dashed expectations of the dude who's been running a petition to get the first Rosie show released on DVD since back when he thought he was heterosexual, to criticizing that not everybody is going to get the Urinetown references.
It was exactly what it was: a reminder that the golden days of variety shows weren't as great as the memories people have of them.
To quote another poster: HA HA HA.
Also, nice of Alanis to sing in the universal language of Esperanto.

The old variety shows had more of a focus. Even the crappy ones like the Hudson Brothers. Or hell, even the Brady Bunch Variety Hour.
It's almost as if 30 people got together in a room and all shouted out every single random, underdeveloped idea that came into their heads. And that was the show.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that particularly because it's untrue.

It isn't true or untrue. It's an opinion, Namo. Everbody has one. Even you occasionally.

But none of them had Jane Krakowski debasing herself singing about PDAs and Trivial Pursuit. Trivial pursuit, indeed!

No, the old ones had worse than that.

People were droppin' loads on that Trivial pursuit. They screamed for electronics before they even know what they were.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

You've got access to YouTube. Just type in Charro or Bea Arthur, and you'll find plenty.

I don't understand why everybody gives out gift bags these days.
So the philosophy is, "We can't just entertain them, we have to pay them to like us?"
I guess people don't watch TV anymore unless they think they can win something. Kinda like the spoiled child who got paid money for cleaning his room or getting good grades.
