I swore off the subject after a FB zealot diagnosed my "serious absence of compassion" for not embracing this cagey swindler's cause until I saw the stupifying exchange between Melissa Harris-Perry and our new Light Egyptian Goddess on their hair and that default setting scapegoat for all abuse, the damned TSA. Even with an impromptu advocate in Harris-Perry, our post-Millennial Marnie sidestepped the pertinent query. (The truthful answer would be: The TSA better keep their blue-gloved mitts off her locks, or they'd come off in their hands.) And then watched Chris Hayes blow a spit bubble as Harris-Perry ran through her box-ticking defense of this charlatan's duplicity. If this becomes the new litmus test on the left, we may look back at this insanity as the moment we seriously lost our way.

Melissa Harris Perry has jumped the shark. The coverage on MSNBC has been almost as bad as Fox News. Thomas Roberts made want to throw a shoe at the TV yesterday.

I keep getting this sense, and correct me if I'm wrong here, that you react to each new reveal by this proven trickster as if it is some clear and obvious counter-example of a progressive "orthodoxy" of some sort that doesn't actually really exist.

Just watched an interview with her younger brother. He calls B.S. on most of her stories she has told this week. Right down to the claim that when she was younger she drew self portraits with brown and black crayons. I am sure Thanksgiving is going to be a fun place at their house this year!

I don't want to make fun of this woman. She's obviously dead serious that she truly relates to black culture and therefore considers herself a black woman. On some level I can see why she would do so. It's the other garbage I don't understand.

This is exactly what I have a problem with. So is she expecting people to believe that the man and woman who are identified on her birth certificate as her parents are not her parents? That and passing off another (black) gentleman as her dad and her adopted brother as her son.

So Jordan, this is kind of a cultural anthropological fascination for you? Because I can't see her and her "experiences" as anything but the behavior of some sort of outlier. She doesn't actually represent anything that's real… the fact that she claims she and her place of employment were victims of hate crimes that never happened for some reason don't seem to be enough for the media, or you, to stop paying attention to her.
