"Oh, good. I was concerned that my post didn't reek of sarcasm quite enough :)"
LOL!
Scallion-that is a riot!
Namo,
The Doctor was not sure what it was but they gave me serious antibotics for 12 weeks. After I was done with it I felt better so whatever I had was gone.
They didn't know for sure what it was but they thought it was some kind of PARASITE.
I would go to the theater and my stomach would growl. I felt sick all the time and I did lose weight.
I mainly eat cooked or smoked sushi:
Shrimp Tempura
Sweet shrimp and smoked salmon are less risky.
I used to eat spicy tuna tartar. That is what did it.

Why is Corine working so very hard (by her standards) to save Raku? I thought it was the OWNER's decision to close. Does Corine know more about the restaurant business than Ray does? Does she monitor his bank accounts?
BTW: If Corine is eating sushi regularly, all that rice will raise her blood sugar. We don't want the "pulse of the city" to be stopped, do we?
Because I am so sad that my favorite restaurant is closing I WILL BE THERE EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK FROM 5-6.
Hope to see you there
47th 7th and 8th.

This makes me sad. I always liked ordering their sushi at work.

>>>"I WILL BE THERE EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK"<<<
This doesn't seem to be an unusual statement for a woman who thinks the sole purpose of a cookbook is that of a doorstop.
Sad. Terribly sad.
I'm always mesmerized by the casualness with which Corine tosses around her various diagnoses. It's like I want to take issue, but I'm too stunned to react.

You mean like the time I had worms in my butthole and mentioned it in the meatloaf recipe thread?
I'm kidding! I just wrote that now as a joke to get a laugh. There was no meatloaf recipe thread!
IFFLOAT!!!!
I AM SAD AND DEPRESSED ABOUT MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT CLOSING.
I AM REALLY, REALLY UPSET.
CHEER ME UP FOR ONCE. PS I GOT A PARASITE NOT A WORM. I AM NOT IN THE MEDICAL FIELD SO SHUT UP!!!!
I AM SITTING SHIVA FOR MY FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT.
IT IS MY FAVORITE SPOT IN TIMES SQUARE. I AM SAD.
Either come and cheer me up or don't post.
I AM UPSET. ;-( PS DP I don't have a kitchen so shut up!
I AM SITTING SHIVA.

"Either come and cheer me up or don't post."
How shellfish...I mean selfish! Raku's famous sleeping waiters are the ones suffering! Where are they going to nap?!
Hopefully Raku will find another spot.
Yes. 4 jobs are being lost. And my kitchen.
SUCKS.
YOUR Living Room, YOUR Kitchen...YOU should be paying the bills!
If I had the money to save the place I would!
"I AM SITTING SHIVA"
That's a bit disrespectful for the dead, don't you think. I hope you're trying to make a joke...
4 whole jobs? FOUR? Lets see, #1)Mr. Raku,#2) Mrs. Raku,
#3)Sleepy Raku and #4)their publicist?
Seriously, don't you think you are overreacting just a tich?
And how can we "PARTY EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK FROM 5-6" if it is closing on Thursday? And why just from 5-6?
Are both Raku locations closing, or just this one? Doesn't Ray have two? If there's another location, couldn't you just go there after Thurday?
And there are more than 4 people that work there...
Ray does not own the one uptown.
We hope it will stay open till Friday. He is trying to hold on till Tuesday now.
It is all up in the air.
The one uptown is a different owner. I have never been there so I don't know if it is any good.
PS SUE. I am not over reacting. I adore the sushi at Raku but I have become friends with all of the people that work there. Additionally, I have become close friends with Ray and will miss him and all the others terribly!

Ray always talks about the one uptown. What does Ray have to do with the uptown one then?
The one uptown was going to be a partner and stabbed him in the back. I live near the one uptown but refuse to go there out of loyalty.

Corine, if the closing of a restaurant--even one you deem to be your favorite--has you this stressed out, I have three words for you:
GET A LIFE.
There's a war being fought in the Middle East, starving people on the streets of most of our major cities, a serious crime problem in New York, children who are being abused, pedophiles everywhere, and a decline in morality the world over. THOSE are issues you should be concerned with. However, to care about any of them would require an iota of altruism. That's something you have always lacked.

Pedophiles everywhere? Okay.
If you're close friends, Corine, perhaps Ray will keep in touch?
My friend is losing his business. I care about Ray and he has a wife and kids to support. So, don't tell me what to care about.
I care about Ray and his family and all of the workers there who will be out of work.

Yes, Namo, there ARE pedophiles everywhere. However, that's fodder for another thread.
I have taken Ray, his mother and kids to see shows. We are friends but if he leaves NY I am not sure if I will see him.
I am more concerned about that then sushi.
Thanks, Namo.
You spend 3-4 days in a place and you become close to a person.
I have gone to theater with Ray and his kids.
I am sad.

The patrons of Raku join in solidarity with the soon-to-be-unemployed staff.
Either that, or it was very, very bad fish.
