Most people have to support themselves, Corine.

I've gone to the theater with many an actor. I didn't get so upset when the shows they were in closed. That's life.
I have become close friends with Ray and will miss him and all the others terribly!
Close friends stay in touch no matter where they are working.
And, yes, CoCo you ARE overreacting. SERIOUSLY overreacting. I just can't wait to see what happens to you when Avenue Q and Forbidden Broadway closes.
Oh, Moon, that place must be the uptown location. I don't thing the Times Square locale is that upscale... or big...or crowded.
I must say, you are not a very good shill if this place is your favorite, you advertise it and it is still closing...either it is bad or you are not a good promoter.

...or both.
Corine... What are you going to do if someday you have to weather a REAL crisis?
And if you, a person who bills herself as a restaurant critic and journalist, are going to authoritatively state that a certain restaurant gave you a tapeworm, you can be expected to have your facts straight. You can't have it both ways.
Seriously, get a grip.
iflit - well then that beckons the question - should a food critic take incentives and advertising dollars? Are they really a critic, or paid-for advertorial? How many drink specials at theaters are named the Brantley? The Barnes? The Isherwood?
you really are carrying on like a maniac, Corine.
Too late, Jane. It's after 5 pm...

...perhaps that's because she is one.
What are you saying, Iflit-Corine doesn't visit the board after 5? Is that siesta time?

No, from 5 Pm to 6 it's SUSHI TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe Raku offers fee internet to anyone who orders a CoCoRo. So we should be hearing from her shortly.

The internet connection at Raku is delish.

I wonder if Ray could manage to keep the place open for a few more days. I'd like to organize a BWW pajama party, where we'll enjoy our meal and then sleep on the benches in the main dining area.
'Way cool, I think!
Sounds fab, Dolly. After we eat, we can turn off all the lights and tell scary stories, like "The Tale of Corine's Tapeworm."

Here is what I don't get, if they are doing so poorly, shouldn't you be encouraging people to go during the hours that they DON'T offer discounts?
I think you are more upset about losing a cheap, convenient place to get sushi than you are about Raku itself.
Sueleen - I made that point earlier when she was "wrangling the troops" for her happy hours. Which I guess is really only a happy HOUR.

Meanwhiles, I passed by Raku a few minutes after 5 on the way to visit my sister's family who went to MOMA and called me to meet them for dinner. There was nobody in there.
Then my sister called to say that "Ollies" was gone.
Restaurants come and go.

I Raku, do you?
Maybe for this week it can be the "Sad Hour". Oh, and you might want to change the thread subject line. Since it MIGHT not be closing on the 15th. Either add a "?" to the end or a "MAYBE".
And Wexy, when you say "NOBODY", do you mean nobody but the staff? Or nobody but CoCo and Ray Raku? Or do you mean NOBODY?
A haiku for Raku...
Rice collects in cracks
All things must come to an end
I see your buttworm
If Forbidden Broadway closed I would be a wreck.
PS The only reason I love Raku is because of Ray. It is called
FRIENDSHIP.
(I do love the food but the first chef was my favorite)

Didn't you say you loved the place because of the Sushi and specials and other things besides Ray. I'm confused.
