So, on the way home from my coaching up at 101st and B'way last night, I was walking down to catch the subway at 96th, and for about 4 blocks, I was walking next to Brian Stokes Mitchell (My boyfriend thought I was crazy for not talking to him!)...I prefer to leave them alone - it makes me happy just knowing I live in the same city and am persuing the same dreams...
Anywhoo - a few minutes later, sitting two seats away from me on the subway train (number 2 heading downtown,in case anyone wants to know) was Peter Scolari (sp?). It was nice to see both he and Stokes - both looking great and knowing that we are all in this together.
Red (purrr....), that story brought to mind one of my "random sightings" from years ago. Early 80s. Walking down 45th, about to cross 8th. For some reason, I was thinking about something else, or not paying attention, or whatever, and almost stepped off the curb into the path of a taxi. Somebody grabbed me, pulled me back, and said "Wow, watch out there!" I turned to thank him, and it was...
Bob Fosse.
I was so flabbergasted all I said was "Thank you....". He smiled, put his cigarette back in his mouth, and proceeded on his way.
My brush with choreographic greatness. I almost met and danced for DeMille once, but under completely different circumstances...
These are the NY stories that make me glad I live in this city.
I literally walked into Bronson Pinchot in Chelsea once. hehe.

My story goes back some years when I stumbled into a restaurant on 46th for lunch because the menu looked interesting. I overheard the bartender (yes, I had a Bloody Mary at lunch) -- oh what-the-hell, I had 3, that Glenda Jackson and her cast were to have their opening night party at this restaurant. The play was called ROSE and it starred herself and Jessica Tandy --yes, she was alive back then. Anywho, I still did not have my evening theater choice made yet since it was before 3 and TKTS was not yet posting (but I don't have to tell yous that). So I thought, Heck I've never been to an opening night. So I went to the B.O. and asked for the best single and they had one. Then went back to restaurant after and watched as the 2 Grand Dame(s) triumphantly came in. I stood at my table, Playbill obviously in view, and applauded their entrance. Later they graciously thanked me for coming and signed autographs. Don't that just make the pee run down your leg??

Those things even happen in our little towns here in Bucks County. We have an elite, exclusive private school and lots of the kiddies of celebs attend and New Hope is always a destination of celebs looking to get out of the city. Over the years I have run into ... Michael Douglas shopping at the GAP, Bill Cosby in an art gallery, Joan Rivers in a boutique, Mick Jaggar with Jerry Hall on the sidewalk. We were also the location for the movie "Signs" and Mel Gibson and Joaquim Phoenix were here for a month. Yum!

Is Glenda Jackson still alive? I always thought she was a wonderful performer - something about her just captivated me when I'd see her on screen. She is a bit like Judi Dench in some ways (or was, if she's passed on).

All good stories
I have a few, but as TommyBoy knows my Hangover prevents me from a long post
I believe Glenda is doing her Civic Duty in the UK...she is gone all politic on us
over the years I've seen many stars on the streets of NY - before my Stokes/Scolari sighting of last night, most recently I saw whats-her-name (Elizabeth Berkely?) from Showgirls (I believe she's in Sly Fox?)...a few years ago it was Liam Neeson Jogging in Central Park - where I've also seen Steve Martin and Steve Gutenberg on occasions jogging away...(Gutenberg still looks great without a shirt)...the girl who played Daphne in Fraiser (she was in Cabaret for a while) walking her stroller in the park - thats always a good place to spot them - the northwest section of Central Park on a sunny day...
A few more (all guests) from when I ran my Bed and Breakfast in Mount Vernon in Baltimore -- Shirley Jones, Boyd Gaines, William Hurt, Geena Davis, Kathleen Turner (yep, The Accidental Tourist!), Penn and Teller, Tom Selleck and on a daily basis because he lived in my neighborhood, John Waters.

In Tucson, AZ:
*Julia Roberts and Jason Patric coming to see "Terminator II" at a movie theater I worked at.
*Paula Abdul at the same movie theater (Very sweet. She's SO tiny!)
*Tim Curry dining alone at a cafe...staring at me (I was a wee 20 year old...oh, Tim!)
*In a pissy mood, waiting tables, delivered a piece of cake to some woman, walked away. A co-worker came up to me and said "Dude, that was Sharon Stone". I turned to look, and she had left...must not have liked the cake.
*Mickey Rourke riding an expensive looking Harley down Speedway Boulevard.
*Drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Chad something) on a plane into Tucson (once again, staring at me....Chad?)
In Seattle:
*REM guitar genius Peter Buck walking down the street with his girlfriend/wife.
*Rufus Wainwright walking into a dance club.
*Donny Osmond in Pike Place Market with a really weird looking tan.
*Susan POW!-ter lookin' like a crack-whore at a Sandra Bernhard gig. Gotta love her!
*Kevin Bacon took his kids to see a production of a play I was doing at the Seattle Children's Theater. Didn't get to meet him, tho.
You'd think I would see more celebrities in Seattle, but no.
Don't Kevin Bacon and Kira Sedgewick have a place here on NY's upper west side? I seem to recall seeing them up there a couple times. Also have spotted Uma Thurman around town a couple times..
I've seen Kevin Bacon many times in NYC. He went to the same vet I did. & I helped him & Ms. Sedgwick at a bookstore.
But my favorite star sighting was Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick on a bicycle. She was on the seat, he was standing, pedaling. It was very cute.
ooooh - I saw Sarah and Matthew last summer on the street down in Greenwich Village - he had a full beard at the time and they were both wearing bib overalls and eating Pizza with their baby...
My mom and I were sitting next to Phil Rizzuto at a red light once...
Northern Jersey doesn't attract many stars..
well one is when i was on Rodeo Drive in LA and saw Jennifer Love Hewitt shopping. It was kinda funny beacause then a whole groupe of japenese girls came over to her...talk about stereotype. And when i was in nyc walking down time square i saw Tommy Lee Jones (i think) filming men in black 2.

In New York? I've only seen Meera Syal, the writer of Bombay Dreams, near the Broadway Theater. In England she is a massive TV star. Last year me and some friends were outside the Tate in London when we heard a lot of cheering. We went and looked and there she was.. the Queen of England.

RedHot -- Peter Scolari is SUCH a sweetie! I ran into him last year at the BCEFA Flea Market... it was one of those mutual "I know I know you from somewhere but can't place where" things.. I still can't figure it out actually. We must have been introduced at some point.
Anyway...
About a month and a half ago I was backstage at Gypsy hanging out with a friend of mine while the understudy rehearsal was going on. He came in with his kids looking for his wife Cathy, who's in the cast. Peter sees me sitting there and says "you know, I see you here all the time.... and I don't know your name. I'm Peter, nice to meet you." I introduced myself and we chatted for a bit. He was really very very nice!
I see people all over the place... it's actually not a normal day in NYC for me if I don't run into any Broadway people. Fortunately, they're usually people I know so I don't hesitate to shout them out (or vice versa) haha
OMG -- rlbgbc that's an AMAZING story! Love. That.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
My friends and I walked right past Swoosie Kurtz last Friday. Both we and Swoosie were cutting through the tunnel in front of the Gershwin going in opposite directions.
Saw Neil Patrick Harris at a bar/post-show hang out one night not too long ago.
I've seen quite a few people when I've been out to eat in Midtown restaurants.
Other than that, I've seen many celebs, but usually at theaters or Broadway related events.

Just 2 weeks ago I was walking behind Christopher Walken for a couple blocks. That was too cool.
During her run in Proof, Anne Heche breezed right by us in Times Square. When downtown around 4th St last April, Uma Thurman came out of a coffee shop with her daughter. Matt Morrison was at the Film Star Cafe (i think that's it) on the morning of the last Cabaret. Neil Patrick Harris strolled past me pre-Cabaret days outside the 41st street subway entrance. And I scared the hell out of Robert Sean Leonard in the 50th st subway, but we're not going there.
I know I have more, but I can't think right now...
