Hmm... lots of good points to ponder here. You all brought up excellent thoughts about rebuilding as they were, the Freedom Towers, etc.
I just feel an enormous amount of respect for those who had to make the decisions regarding what to do with Ground Zero... there are so many strong feelings and emotions and memories there, the choices to be made were undoubtedly very, VERY difficult... decisions I don't envy.
I've never liked a Donald Trump design in my life, but I see these as the ultimate f**k-you to the terrorists.
Note the inclusion of the partial wall around the original foot prints as a nod to the original towers.

And he'd know.
Like I say, I don't usually agree with Trump--and ALL of his buildings are crap architecture--but he and Olbermann are right about what should go up on the WTC site.
Yeah, so say they build this big brazen "f-You" to terrorists.
Might as well paint a giant red target across them.
Such irresistible catnip won't be ignored.
And if not by this generation, then the NEXT one.
I'm afraid anything that goes in that spot is going to have a giant target on it.
