religion and me.....

in my opinion, religion is just another word for a way of life. it provides the standards that anyone can have for living, but tacking on the hope that we have a reason to be good. like any philosophy, it teaches us how to look at "morals". therefore, i'm inclined to say that religion is not inherently evil. in fact, i think the concept of a religion shows how human psychology runs in the world. we believe because we need to believe, because without hope, there is no comfort. how many people want to believe that at the end of life, they go out like a candle? nobody, i assume. this world needs religion, and even if people take their religion somewhere it shouldn't go, that doesn't necessarily mean the religion itself is wrong.

i wouldn't say that believing in something is stupid. i think it's natural to believe in what you can't see, even if you can't explain something. i could never understand the concept of gravity even though i know it exists, and even if science proves it, i wouldn't know what the truth is behind gravity. it's when people treat religion like a weapon when it really starts to get to me. a good christian friend once told me "God is love, but people still reread what love is." perhaps religion needs to conform to something personal and beautiful.

If people want to believe it, it is there choice.
And the only thing I like about religion that I will give it is that it is a comfort to struggling people.

ALW-do you still have the dictionary open? "their choice" as opposed to "there choice".

well, fortunately the board moderators do care as your thread has been deleted.......

and it has nothing to do with being "unpc"....who cares if you are that. It has, I would assume, to do with being offensive, nasty, rude, and insensitive.

From what I can glean from Elph's thread on the protest march, I assume that you're a high school student, ALW?

they deleted it, no doubt, because people like you turned it into something ugly.

if you had even read any of my comments, you would know that i have nothing to do with alw. and i find it unbelieveable that you simply write off my opinions because they are different, like there is no possible way i could think for myself. i came to this link assuming that some people would be a bit more mature than on the other thread, but i guess not. i have better things to do that listening to the mindless chatter of a middle schooler (i assume, at least your immaturity elsewhere tells me so). so much for having this be civil. so much for that plan, elfie.

write more when you are ready to accept a little diversity, honey.

Yes, his seems to be a HS Student who has recently read Atlas Shrugged for the first and presumes that no one else on this Board either has read the book, or was able to discern any meaning from its message.

Actually, I am attending Columbia University and am majoring in philosophy.

My apologies, a college student who has just read Atlas Shrugged.

lolol.....um, are you high on something? It is you and ALW who have no tolerance or diversity for differing views.....which is why the thread was removed. It is ALW who got his own thread deleted by his nasty, rude, hurtful and inappropriate comments.
Assume responsibility for your actions, kiddies

I saw this thread and I thought I would show a picuture of what happened to my church this weekend.

It made me more sad than anything else.

that's horrible. If they were going to do it, they could have at least been grammatically correct. Do they have any idea who did this?
