This election is not going to be decided by the Mikeys or those of you that follow the liberal blogs. The people who watch MSNBC and FOX have made their minds up.

Romney and Ryan have a very clear message. So does Obama. Plus Obama has his record.

For the next three months both sides will spend billions to distort the other side. And when it's all done, regardless of who wins, the changes will likely be far less dramatic than either side wants because that's pretty much the way it works.

Obama was going to close Gitmo. Obama was going to bring the troops home. I think that six Marines were killed in the last couple of days. In my paper it's on page 13. The real world is there after you are elected. I don't know one person Republican or Democrat who thinks we should still be there.

This is not meant to be a knock on Obama. I voted for the man. He is being President and it's a very heavy load. He's done some great stuff too.

I am certainly in the minority by saying this but I think both Obama and Romney are two of the best candidates in a while.

Obama is doing his best in a very difficult economy with a very unhelpful Congress. By the same token, Romney has had the very difficult job of being a Governor with all the work that comes with that job when he could have simply taken it easy with his great wealth.

I don't buy into the argument that either is evil or a crook. There is no evidence just speculation and inuendo. For every person screaming for ten years of Romney's tax returns there is someone asking why Obama's college records are sealed. The whole thing is out of hand. How can we get anything done when both sides ramp up the hostility toward the other side.

The things we as Americans must do in terms of sacrifice at home in order to solve our problems are so petty compared to what our grandparents were asked, it's embarrassing. Three or four percent more in taxes, starting Social Security a year or two later. These things are trivial yet we make them out to be huge sacrifices. They are small things on which reasonable people could easily compromise if we weren't screaming at each other.

Remember how you felt in the first few days after 911? The people WE were in those days were the people who could do it.

No, Obama is not doing his best. When he was elected he had control of Congress. In his first 100 days, he could have pushed through any legislation he wanted. But his idea of being POTUS is to show up and smile. He has no idea how to fix things. There's a reason why so many Democrats are skipping the national convention this year. It's because Obama is toxic.

Sorry but I think that's a little naive. With the pick of Ryan there is a very clear choice in this election. And all you have to do to see that is take a look at the Ryan/Romney budget. Ryan's budget would decimate the federal government. It would be unrecognizable to what it is now. Medicare is just the tip of the iceberg. 3/5ths of the cuts that Ryan makes are to programs that service the poor while extending tremendous tax cuts to the wealthy. Even Catholic Bishops have called the Ryan plan a moral failure.
It's comforting to think a plan like Ryan's could never be enacted. But you have to remember it's already passed the House twice. It's very, very scary stuff.

No, the right understands how our system of government works. Whoever has the majority in Congress gets their legislation passed. It is only the left that accuses leaders of being fascist dictators when they don't get their way (see eight years of George W. Bush).

Goth is a perfect example of the Right's insanity. Forgetting the filibusters and obstructions the GOP has done for 4 years of Obama. They were not complaining when the Dems in Washington actually went along with Bush -- and suffered for it on election day.

It's hard to know whether the Goths and mikeys believe what they say, or we're being Punk'd.

Ryan has apparently completely skewed and/or missed the boat on the true meaning of several of the core tenets of Catholic social teaching that he has been claiming to uphold recently.

It's also interesting because while there are a lot of great ideas in Catholic social teaching it also reveals a whole ton of hypocrisy (I know, not that big of a shock), especially if, as you read this, you replace "the poor" with "the LGBT community." For instance:

In his speech at Georgetown University, Ryan claimed that “Civil public dialogue goes to the heart of solidarity, the virtue that does not divide society into classes and groups but builds up the common good of all.” There is a grain of truth here. Solidarity does aim to allow all people to participate in and benefit from the common good. As the philosopher Fr. Józef Tischner of the Polish Solidarnosc movement argued, solidarity excludes no one. However, Pope John Paul II, who developed the concept of solidarity more than any other pope, acknowledged “the positive role of conflict” when it “takes the form of a struggle for social justice.” He also stated solidarity sometimes requires taking the side of the poor when their rights and welfare are jeopardized.

Now replace "the poor" in that last sentence with "the LGBT community."
