"I think that it's a powerful statement she's making. Whether or not you agree with the photograph, if this was any other child, say in Iraq, it wouldn't be such a big deal"
Actually it is a big deal to alot of people Clumsydude. See films like "Invisible Children" or "Osama" and you might come to realize that the world does notice children involved without their will in wars.

I don't understand what all this contempt is for. If you don't like her you don't have to pay attention. It's not like she is controlling your brain. Why is she not allowed to dissent and you are? She is not the only celebrity that is anti-war or outspoken.
If you want someone to shove something down your throat, talk to George Bush about terror. Rosie is an easy target for non-liberals because she is a fat lesbian. Ann Coulter uses the word FAGGOT and the media books her on every show.
If you don't like the kool-aid, don't drink it.

Rosie makes statement designed to DRAW attention, the same as Anne Coulter does. They are 2 sides of the same coin.
If Rosies dresses her kids up like little terrorists, do you really think she expects people not to pay attention?

Her kids dressed themselves up.
Soldiers are heros. This is dress up, not reality. What is the difference between dressing up like a soldier or wearing a Superman costume?

"Why is she not allowed to dissent and you are?"
Of course, she's allowed to dissent. That's all she did on "The View". And people have the right to express their opinion about how stupid her opinions are.

If you don't want to listen turn it off. If Ann Coulter is on television I switch stations. I don't need to here her tired rhetoric. Rosie is not shoving this down anyones throat.
As far as Rosie's statements on 9/11 I said it yesterday and I will say it again. I do not know one 9/11 family that does not still have questions about what happened that day, and everything leading up to it. Tazber, I'm sorry you lost someone, but understand Rosie is one of the FEW that has ever had the balls to speak out on television about it.
After Rosie made those comments about Tower 7, 9/11 familes were not outraged. They were thrilled. I know because I see them all the time. The media wasn't so happy, Bill OReilly went crazy about it.

Who's saying she isn't allowed to dissent? Nobody is silencing her. Why can't we have a negative opinion on her without being "put in our place?" It's all a question of opinion, and those of us that dislike her antics are speaking out, same as those of you that love her. I can't wrap my head around people saying she hasn't been allowed dissent, she's been given more of an opportunity than most.
Rosie makes these "statements" to garner attention to her cause, she didn't just let her kids play dress up and shoot such a professional picture of them. It that wasn't planned, I am shocked.

"Rosie is nuts". That's probably all that people are getting out of this. Her intended message, or what I'm assuming was her intent, is stuck behind her reputation.

^ Agreed.
I am just not understanding this phenomenon. She is not on television anymore, she is posting in her own personal web space. So, if you're tired of hearing about her STOP MAKING HER RELEVANT. For whatever reason, the media seems to think that her personal blogs make great news fodder, and you all feed into that by watching, and listening, and discussing everything she says on there.
It's not that hard to stay away. If you don't like what she has to say, don't read her freaking blog.

By that logic we shouldn't ever discuss anyhing O'rielly or Coulter say on their shows either. If it bothers us, we should just not tune in. And yet there are several posts here daily about their comments.
These things are done to gain attention and be discussed. Do you think Rosie doesn't know that pic is going to cause trouble?
We're just voicing oppinions here.

It's much different when people choose to go on national media outlets.
In Rosie's case it's the people who are choosing to go into her personal domain and hear what she has to say.
And honestly, if people ignore O'Reilly and Coulter like they should, both would just fade into obscurity. It's the public that makes people famous and both those jackasses know that, which is why they spew the most vile garbage imaginable.

The difference is O'Rielly and Coulter are being broadcast nation-wide by news corporations and entertainment shows that are gaining ratings and earning cash off of their bigoted and outrageous opinions. Rosie is running her own private website. There is a HUGE difference.

I'm sure Rosie is well aware that people besides her fans read her website.
I find Rosie to be as equally as offensive as Coulter. They are both oppurtunists who seek the spotlight by making sensational comments. I can't condemn one and accept the other. That seems like a double standard to me.

I'm sure she is, but it still comes down to it being YOUR choice whether or not to click that link. She shouldn't censor what she says on her personal blog just because some don't want to see it.
How about a little personal responsibility?
#43rosie's kid with bullets
Posted: 6/27/07 at 1:20pmHad this stayed in her blog 'personal responsibility' would apply as far as seeing it. I never went to her blog and yet this is the 4th message board today that I have seen that picture posted on. I'm sure it will make the rounds of all the tabloids and tabloid TV shows too. She may be offensive at times, but she knows what works for her.

Is that not the responsibility of the people creating these threads?
It would be one thing if she was going on message boards and starting these topics. Or going on Access and E! and all those other trashy TV shows to pimp her blog (ala Perez) but she's just posting freely, as she should feel free to do on her personal website, and other people are running away with it.
Would they not be the ones to blame?

I didn't click on her blog. I don't visit her blog. I saw the pic on this thread.
I also don't watch or read Coulter, but I read what she says on various threads here on this site.
Which is the point. These things are discussed by people. They are extrapolated from their sources b/c they cause a reaction.
I am sure Rosie expects and welcomes all types of reactions. As does Coulter.

Again, I'm sure she does.
And?
Are we not the fools for giving the desired reactions?

Posted: 6/27/07 at 1:27pmI don't know if it's blame or not blame. But like everyone else, I look at the car accidents as I slowly drive by. This is just another accident to look at.

I don't think we're fools for discussing our reactions with others who may agree and/or disagree.
I don't discredit everything Rosie says carte blanche, and I agree with her on many many issues. Hearing other's points of view is rewarding and I am not above changing my mind if someone has a compelling argument.
I happen to think this particular picture was a little uncalled for, but I certainly respect other's oppinions who don't feel the same as I.
I'm simply stating my reaction.
