re: Rules for tonight's town hall style debate

Fine then. Who would you pick?

It's not like he's actually the president yet or this is absolutely what he's going to do... it was just a random question and they had to think of an answer.

I was sort of hoping Obama would mention Mike Bloomberg as a potential SecTreas.

LMAO @ McCain randomly popping up behind Obama!

He came across very old and robotic to me last night. Ugh. And yeah, he was very antsy.....

The only one I agree with(with some exceptions & reservations) is Nader

Unfortunately, Nader proved himself to be totally incapable of leading the country. Though he may have expressed some good ideas, you can't waltz into the Presidency without a party in the House and Senate to back you. Also, Nader proved that he does not even listen to his own constituency, especially when they were begging him to back out of the race to give the election to Gore. Nader would stand at the podium calling everyone else stupid, but he set the environmental movement back at least a decade. In the environmental movement, you gain ground by centimeters at a time and you have to fight for each centimeter. Yet you can lose miles in minutes. I know people who used to work in Nader's public interest groups who won't even speak to him today.

But yeah, LePetiteFromage, I understand your viewpoint. Though given the environmental issues there is no way in hell I'm voting for McCain. He still promotes the capital intensive industries like nuclear power and though Obama said we needed to rely on nuclear too (which is a fact at least for the time being) he did not voice any desire to see the nuclear industry develop advanced-converter reactors, as McCain did. IMO nuclear energy dependence is something we need to phase out, while promoting not so capital-intensive energy resources. Too complex to really cover here.

And there is no way I want to see Wolf Hunter given the remotest opportunity to become Pres. Drilling in the ANR should be off-limits. That is one of America's last pristine places and it should stay that way. We are not the only species on this planet.
