Which is why I'm surprised they're bending to this drama. But hey, any publicity is good publicity I guess.

He's not part of the Bravo hierarchy anymore. He's just the host of WWHL now.

And then Ru said: Trust! @LogoTV hasn’t “distanced” itself from me, not while I’m still payin’ the f%kin’ light bill over there

Word.

I’ve been a “tranny” for 32 years. The word “tranny” has never just meant transsexual. #TransvestiteHerstoryLesson

Some high level TRANNY shade!

I wish the best of luck to anyone who wants to go toe to toe with Mama Ru and I am awaiting for Carmen to say something to Ru directly rather than it just getting there second hand because the smackdown awaiting for her would be so sweet.

I honestly do have to observe that in my circle of people - in the real world AND the social media realm, the ones scream loudest at Ru are not members of the transgender community, even when they have criticized. The ones screaming loudest are white gay men who are making plainly desperate attempts to look PC and inclusive on matters of geners, race and sexual orientation.
My favorites are the ones who say my opinions do matter on gener or race since I am a white man.. But they, as white men, have completely valid opinions and skin in the game.
Um.

The ones who are screaming loudest are, again, from that social justice echo chamber that's formed on sites like Twitter, Tumblr, etc. - these "activists" that aren't active and can't see the forest for the trees, and are perfectly content to say things like "you aren't MY ally" to people who... well, really are.

I know plenty of people who on fiercely on both sides of the debate. Some are trans, and again are have very different POVs- so I cannot really say there's a mono-echo chamber coming from one community. I also know people who hate RPDR and have gone cold on RuPaul and some who love the show and are frustrated by the recent turn of events. Those who feel like the word hurts them personally are a bit frustrated that the platitudes, as PRS puts it, are not even for them but more of the Tumblr social justice warriors.

I'm not sure why there was this sudden divide among transvestites/drag queens and the trans community. Some of that community does become blurred with drag queens actually transitioning, like a few RPDR contestants have. Perhaps it is frustration that with the rise in trans visibility also comes with ignorance from outside of the community who cannot tell the difference between drag queens and trans people. I actually do think this is more in reaction to perception from the outside because tranny is really the most hurtful coming from ignorant people who spew it hatefully. Trans people are probably the most vulnerable people and it is perhaps coming from personal experiences that the word hits them harder than say, your average gay bar drag queen who uses drag as a performance and sometime occupation, likely in an environment that is much more inviting and receptive to them.

"The ones who are screaming loudest are, again, from that social justice echo chamber that's formed on sites like Twitter, Tumblr, etc. - these "activists" that aren't active and can't see the forest for the trees, and are perfectly content to say things like "you aren't MY ally" to people who... well, really are."

I'm a little confused. Not sure if these activists/social justice warriors you speak of are a majority of trans/queer people. I actually think a lot of self-identified allies can be FOS. It is something that has to be earned rather than be a description of who somebody sees themselves. Most of them barely scratch the surface of LGBTQ. Heck, there's a lot of problems within the community where some people question the existence of bisexual people and transgender people certainly even before this incident have often been at odds with a gays and lesbians. But going back to when we talked about social justice warriors in the #CancelColbert thread, I really hate how dialogue-free this feels. It requires hearing one side and then giving a response and then their response. Instead, it is just platitudes and not respecting the other sides and their arguments at all.

As Mx. Bond notes, this does seem like a real generational thing. I did think the word did come off slur-y when somebody like Christian Siriano was using it to describe other contestants on Project Runway, but it just never really came off hateful on RPDR. It just felt in parlance with the Paris is Burning lingo applied to the show.

According to To Wong Foo: When a man is really a woman, trapped in a man's body, she is transgeder. When a man puts on women's clothing to get his sexual kicks, he's a transvestite. When a man has to much style to be trapped in one gender, he is a drag queen. When a sad little Latin boy puts on a dress, he is simply a boy in a dress.

Of course, that movie also wants one to believe that drag queens traveling to a pageant, cross-country, by car, would do so in full drag. o_O

I've used the term Trannysaurus Wreck for decades. I used it to describe large, ugly drag queens (with little, faggy hands)

If someone doesn't like it, tough titties.

Well, at least all the people who want to use the word are taking the high road.

Are there really different roads to take any more?

Most celebritards theses days have only gotten famous by taking the low roads, which just goes to show how screwed up things are.

We posted at about the same time. I wasn't talking about you. I was talking all these tweets that read like the screeches of feral cats.

Where did Bianca say that?!

I have no love for Carmen. She can't sing or dance. She can barely lip sync. She stands there shaking her tits and showing off her newly enhanced body. That has NEVER been drag to me. She was on hormones before the show began, but ceased (supposedly) during the show, as it's against the rules. She was a trans woman, but the words didn't offend her when she was getting exposure. I completely understand why those who also participated in the show are pissed.
