We will see the test of the new court.
I am not confident it will be a pleasant outcome.

Kitz, you're saving it for someone special, remember?
This news just makes me sick. I'm not even able to have kids, but I'm still a woman and I want control over my own body and future.

You got me. I live in a state that is trying to force clinics to turn over all gynecological records of girls under 16 that have been sexually active. Whether the sexual activity was consensual or not. And they aren't requiring the same to be done with male records.
Seriously, come to Kansas. It's more than just Dorothy and Toto.

Wow. From reading the article, it at least states that they will be legal to save a mother's life. However, what about in cases where the fetus has such severe birth defects, it is not likely to survive outside of the mother's womb (i.e., missing organs, etc.)? I hope for the health of the fetus and mental health of the mother (and father), she would not be forced to carry a baby to term that she knows will not survive. It would be bad enough to know that the child you are carrying has no chance to live.. to have to carry it to term, would be even more heartbreaking.

So many? Where, exactly, are you getting that impression? I want numbers, people. How many women like getting an abortion over, say, using the morning-after pill? You think this is something people undertake lightly? How amoral do you think these women are?

But, when states and school districts to not have real sex education, and only educate on abstinence rather than safe sex, when access to birth control is increasingly getting difficult, when doctors and pharmacies can choose not to prescribe or fill birth control because of their own religious beliefs, what do you think will happen?
It is the small minority who have an abortion by choice.
This bill does not even except out instances of rape.
You have to vote, and vote and vote to make sure you are heard. Donate money to planned parenthood and other organizations that support reproductive rights.
But most importantantly, vote in every single election that you can. This has happened because of complacency. The religious right has been working for almost 20 years to capture local city council, school district and any other elected seat they can in order to influence the agenda and change the political landscape. And they have suceeded.
Vote.

Exactly, Plum.
Every woman I know that has had an abortion (and it's not a small number) has agonized over the decision...and it's after-effects. I know of NO women who breezily pop into the doctor's office and waltz out, fetus-less, off to have sex unresponsibly, just knowing that such a delightful procedure is always a possibility.

I agree with Plum. I would like hard facts about these women who have promiscuous sex and then have abortions after because that's easier than a condom or pill. I need facts, numbers, and instances.
