How cool was that to see Marion Cotillard present Best Supporting Actor to Javier Bardem!
I kept thinking... there goes Guido Contini and Luisa Contini!
I really hope the Rob Marshall "Nine" film happens. They would be MAGIC together.
...and he is well-deserving of this honor. I think his Oscar is in the bag, at this point.

Posted: 1/27/08 at 8:51pmIt reminds me a little of the Golden Globes, in that it takes forever for the TV actors to get to the stage. Congrats to Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, sad for America Ferrara and Vanessa Williams. The Office? Oh, well, another show I haven't seen yet. Ugly Betty rules!!!

I love Charles Durning.
That was a lovely over-long, drawn-out tribute.
But I don't care.

I'm all teary-eyed. But he's the epitome of an actor!
He was told SO many times he didn't "have it."
He endured. And he lived his dream.

Posted: 1/27/08 at 9:14pmI wish they had shown a touch of Queen of the Stardust Ballroom with Mr. Durning and Maureen Stapleton. He got to play the romantic lead. Such a lovely movie. And they were both great in it.

Okay, even Mickey Rooney has me teary-eyed tonight.
He's had his SAG card for 74 friggin' years!!!
Look hard, people. These are the last of the living legends. He's one of them.
Look hard. And take note.

I didn't realize so many legends of the screen had passed this past year.
I can't believe I forgot the awards were tonight, did they start at 8pm for us east coasters?

Okay, seeing Deborah Kerr just totally made me cry. What a magnificent actress and beauty. I love her so much.
And it doesn't look like Julie Christie is even there...bummer.

Bummer for Amy Ryan, this certainly makes the Oscar race a bit more interesting for this category.
I always find it funny the way actors react to seeing their own work on screen, Tilda Swinton's face was pretty funny.

#45re: SAG Awards tonight-are they still having them?
Posted: 1/27/08 at 9:43pmI think Amy Ryan's moment peaked a while ago. She didn't win the Globe either. It's just not that good a movie.

I love Ruby Dee. And she's always been "flighty" and "eccentric."
That ain't old age. That's dear RUBY.
And don't underestimate the power of sentiment! And don't underestimate her talent or her standing in the industry.
She could easily take the Oscar, at this point.

I know she didn't win the Globe, but she still was on some people's lists.
I think now it may be between Dee and Blanchett, maybe? I'm still hoping for Ryan, the movie may not be the best of the year, but Ryan (who has consistently been giving great performances for a long time now) does give an impressive performance in it.
