Can someone point me in the direction of all the dead taxpayers that Obama is responsible for killing?

"And why, exactly, is it that the opponents of Obamacare don't object to the fact that we are'forced' to have auto insurance?"

We're not forced to have auto insurance. I don't have it.

Also, different states have different rules on insurance. I think in Mississipi you don't need it at all.

Yeah a list would be helpful. I'll personally send sympathy cards to all those dead taxpayers.

"And why, exactly, is it that the opponents of Obamacare don't object to the fact that we are'forced' to have auto insurance? The shock and dismay that they express is so convenient and so disingenuous."

People driving cars have a greater risk of hurting others unintentionally.

I'm not going to hurt anyone walking down the street unless I decide to punch someone in the face and I'm certainly not going to hurt anyone sitting on my couch.

"But all the power is in the hands of these health insurance companies. Are the prices really going to go down in price? Nothing else ever goes down in price. I'll believe it when I see it. Look at gas prices, look at the tolls that Port Authority does to us."

The exchange will give people the power of buying as a group. So, rather than having to shop around for prices as an individual or family, you'll be able to join the exchange the way many join their employer's plan. Group plan rates are just about always lower than individual rates.

Really, I hope that "Obama Lied People Died" thing is their best salvo. This election will be hysterical.

I did see a right-wing blog that is demanding Roberts be impeached, claiming he's "Yet another Bush F*ck-up"

And again: Hospitals are FORCED to treat everyone who presents themselves. That law was passed under Ronald Reagan, by the way.

That's also something that should be changed. Hospitals should not be forced to give illegal aliens treatment. We all suffer from that when it happens.

When the government forces people to buy insurance, the price will go up.

Bway Joe- I'm old enough to remember the alternative: People literally dying outside hospitals from lack of care. Illegal alien, poor, irresponsible: I don't think we as a society should impose a death sentence for not having insurance and being unlucky enough to trip on a step and break a leg.

I can understand the poor and irresponsible but why illegal aliens though? They are already free loading and costing us tons of money and in the long run it affects the middle class the most and I assume the majority of us on this board are in the middle class.

Bway Joe would you mind sharing your details? I appreciate that you oppose this law but it seems to me that you might be helped by it as well- I have a nephew who's in his 20's, diabetic and without insurance. I think this could very well save his life.

"When the government forces people to buy insurance, the price will go up."

I disagree. Many of those who opt out of coverage are young, healthy people. Including them in the plan should bring the overall cost down. And providing preventative care and delivery to all through regular docs vs ERs should also bring down overall cost. Note: my last two comments are traditional GOP concepts.

Oy--And Jesus Christ never said a word against homosexuality. You gotta stop with the 'facts', Joe. The Republicans have no interest in the facts. They like demagoguery and crowd control.

The facts are inconvenient.

Buzzfeed has posted a collection of tweets from people who clearly don't know anything about Canada

Right, because the price of stamps, passports and drivers licenses (all products brought to you by the government) continues to fall.

And while Illegal Immigrants might be illegal, they are also people. II don't give them a death sentence for being here illegally.

I work with a lot of immigrants at a social service agency- we don't ask for papers but I assume many of them are illegal. None of them would ever go to a hospital for treatment unless it was a literal life-or-death situation as they DO NOT want to be found out and deported.

The price of stamps, adjusted for inflation, has remained pretty much the same since the 1970s, FYI.

I'm also in my 20s. I pay 296 for a 3 month period of coverage with BlueCross BlueShield. I can't see my coverage getting any lower then it already is and my plan covers all the basic "emergencies" ex. like having to get my appendix out, etc.

I'm also not your average person in their 20s though when it comes to having my health already planned out if issues arise. I have a DNR which I highly doubt that many people even have let alone people in their 20s. My DNR states that they have to pull the plug on me if I don't recover in a few weeks from a major accident. I had to get my mother to sign it and get it notarized.

"As of 2014, under the law, small firms with more than 50 full-time employees would have to provide coverage or face expensive fines."

So this will also cost a lot of people their jobs. I'm sure companies that have 50 to 70 people working for them are going to start firing people until they get under 50.

It's not just about lowering your premium, it's about providing care to all Americans, not just those who are healthy enough to have an affordable private insurance plan.

"I'm sure companies that have 50 to 70 people working for them are going to start firing people until they get under 50."

That's an oversimplification. Each small business owner will have to make a complex decision based on several factors.
