I liked the digital short up until the end and the song kinda fell apart.
Was that Scarlett Johannson in the porcelain fountians skit? And Lady Gaga kind of lost me during her second song after she switched up the music and sat at the piano. I thought she was going to knock the bench over with that Saturn costume.
I agree. Overall, a good show.

I thought Madonna and Gaga were hilarious, I thought the John and Mackenzie Phillips stuff was funny without ever getting too creepy, and on and on. Ryan Reynolds was a great host. LOVED. IT.
They special thanked Darrell Hammond at the end. Is he not a regular anymore?

I think Bjork has made the world safe for kooks like Lady Gaga, and I'm glad for it.

Oh, and the fact that that was really Madonna made me scream like a little girl. I mean, how many times do they say things like, "Here to discuss this issue is Angelina Jolie" and it's just someone playing her. And lately Madonna has been done to perfection by Kristen Wiig. So to see her there having fun with Gaga just made me smile.

Performance wise, that 'orbit' outfit was pretty spectacular and I'm glad she had a little laugh with the audience over it when trying to sit down at the piano. Strong acoustic vocals, and as disappointed I am that we didn't get to hear her new single (Bad Romance) it does make sense not to stand on the heels of 'Paparazzi' before it peeks on the chart. Speaking of which, the 'Paparazzi' performance was pretty cool - not her best though, the sound seemed to be turned down making it sound feeble when she usually sings it quite strong and full on.

What happened to Darrell Hammond?

I didn't love either of her performances... what a letdown. :-/
I actually ended up turning off SNL during Weekend Update. What a painful show!

I think Darrell Hammond decided not to return this season, although he did appear in last night's episode briefly. Nothing more.

LOVE GAME/BAD ROMANCE/POKER FACE:
That hoop-skirt was doing more hurt than help... (but how many can we expect to see in Manhattan come Halloween?) She SOOOO made it up by singing acoustic for 5 minutes!!!
PAPARAZZI:
Love love love her dancers. I NEED to learn that choreography.
CAMEO WITH MADONNA:
Aaawwwwkward. They must have had only 5-minutes of rehearsal during commercial breaks.

Still, it was a very funny solid episode.

I told you guys she was premiering a new song!
Apparently, since the whole demo for "Bad Romance" leaked she did a portion of that but then segued into an entirely new song that she wrote yesterday (!). Pretty cool and I believe the only time an SNL performer has written a song ABOUT Saturday Night and all that, virtually on the spot (it could have even been improvised, but playing it back there are some musical things she does which make me think it was all written down first). I would honestly put this in the Top 3 best SNL performances I've seen. And that "Paparazzi" remix was beyond fierce!
I was with a bunch of rap-loving Lil Wayne wannabes and even they stopped in their tracks, mouths agape at Gaga's wild "new" composition.
And Madonna wishes she had HALF of Gaga's talent and a TENTH of her fashion sense. I mean, after all, Madonna does not nor has she ever written her own music... and those pedestrian cliches she calls lyrics are usually ascribed to a co-writer as well. Madonna who?
P
P.S. Namo - the quote is "You are PUNISHING me for not coming to rehearsals" if you are quoting Madonna at the 1984 TONY Awards. You, of all people, I would expect to get a Madge quote correct,

I did like the porcelain fountain and dog food commercials.
