Spider and I are most certainly cool, besides we disagree on many a theater topic so we're used to it by now lol.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Ok, this has been fun, but I move we call it quits. Thanks to everyone for keeping the discussion semi under control. I can't keep staying up so late trying to make sure I've responded to everyone's posts...I'm overwhelmed as it is with a musical and stupid girl pageant, so I need my beauty sleepreligion Spider, DGrant, Priest, bythesword and others, I hope we can still love each other despite our different views...that's what makes this site, the musical world, and America great! Yay for freedom of speech.

I must say though----if this thread had been a competition, I think I might have one! Hizzah! :)
Now let us reunite in our love of theatre, Broadway, and everthing Catherine.

---BUMP---

One of the most intellectually stimulating and (obviously) controversial threads BWW has had.

What a great read this was! I'm sorry I missed it.
Aw, what the hell. Here's a few bits of heresy from Wolf's corner:

Religion is the opiate of the masses. But...
Agnosticism is the mask of the cowardly. And...
Atheism is the delusion of the obstinate.

I'm a white male that was raised in the inner city and the only instance of racism I've ever witnessed was inflicted UPON me.

I think people cry "intolerance!" 90% of the time to cover their own inadequacies, refusing to admit that the problem could be themselves.

I think a lot of rap teaches young men that degrading women is OK. (Even something to be admired.)

I think the African-American community needs to stop looking to Al Sharpton for leadership. He's divisive and needlessly perpetuates confrontation.

I think white America needs to stop condescending to black America. Top-toeing around them and coddling them is not what they need or desire. Equality is a middle ground, not a pendulum. Nothing we can do can make up for slavery. So let's make the most of now and treat each other as equals. No masters, no slaves. No victims, no perpetrators. Equals.

I think that the President of the United States should NEVER use religion as a political lynchpin or to manipulate the middle American proletariat.

I think Affirmative Action is racist and destructive.

I think the anonymity of the internet is dangerous.

Both major political parties in this country are corporate controlled, one just deludes itself into believing its actually "democratic". Neither are.

A lot of the world hates us, and I believe a lot of it to be Bush's fault.

Art, faith, love, relationships, music - cannot be separated successfully. They are all inextricably linked to one another.

Man, I wish I could've been here for this thread. start up again?

Hmmm - I remember this evening, and actually went back and re-read the entire thread. Right now, the thing that strikes me is the concern that we would all remain friendly. Having had continuing interaction with many of the participants, I guess that wasn't a justifiable worry start up again?

I pray to God, not to Christianity...

Straight men with fashion sense were placed on earth just to torment gay men.

Bush should be imprisoned without charge for an indefinate amount of time...then he might understand how those in Guantanamo Bay feel.

Stupid people should be sterilised at birth.

American Humour is nowhere near as funny as British Humour.

Hell, American Humour is often not funny at all...

Paradox, hilarious list! start up again?

In my post: "Agnosticism is the mask of the cowardly" came off a bit harsh in the light of the morning. Let me rephrase:
Agnosticism is the mask of the wishy-washy.
Easier to swallow now. start up again?

American humor and British humor are two different kinds of comedy stemming from the same conceit: People are stupid. And only the truly enlightened can appreciate both. start up again?

One more: I think we need child-raising licenses. You need a license to drive, hunt, work if you're under 16, eve get married, for god's sake. Why are unfil people allowed to have kids and bring them up in potentially dangerous or neglectful enviroments?

Matt_G and DGrant: I agree with you on your views of religion. Religion IS for the ignorant, and the bible are fairy tales. Well said.

Munk - just so you understand, the wording I used in this thread was simply because it was contained in the 'super controversial' thread. Although I have very stated opinions about religion and things associated with it, outside of these types of confines I would never call someone who professed those beliefs to be doing anything other than exercising their fee will. I saw the point of this particular thread to be taking existing attitudes and exploding them to their ultimate limits.

Speaking of politics...

I hate partisan politics. I don't mind politics in general because it helps the world go around. But the whole Republican-Democrat competition is just ridiculous. People should vote for something because it has a positive impact on society as a whole, not because of how they (or their party) personally feel about it. I'm a registered voter, but I'm not affiliated with any party just because I don't want to cater to this stupid system.
