Speaking of politics...
I hate partisan politics. I don't mind politics in general because it helps the world go around. But the whole Republican-Democrat competition is just ridiculous. People should vote for something because it has a positive impact on society as a whole, not because of how they (or their party) personally feel about it. I'm a registered voter, but I'm not affiliated with any party just because I don't want to cater to this stupid system.
Okay, there is so much controversy on this board, who has time to read it. I don't know if this controversial statement has been made but, here is mine:
I hate religion, and I think that people that follow religions are weak minded people who need other people telling them how to live their life.
How's that for a controversial statement.
Justice, do you mean just organized religion?
Or, by religion, do you also mean a person's spirituality and relationship with God?
I do not consider religion necessary for either of them and am just curious as to what your definition of 'religion' is.
Okay...we'll go with "Organized religion"

Justice - it is, of course, your option not to read the rest of this particular thread, but at least 3/4's of it deals with the subject you're bringing up - just so you know.
I hate that people who hate others for believing what they believe and living their lives the way they feel is "right" for them but hate on others that hate on them for the exact same reason.
Understand it?

I always picture Jack L. Warner, burning in hell, for all eternity, for not casting Julie Andrews in MY FAIR LADY.
Most of religious America believes that God loves all his children...
... that is, of course, except for those damn liberals...
... I'm only joking, don't take offense at what I just said. It's just how I feel about this whole religion dispute...
... I happen to be a liberal :)
I say screw it all.
Let's all go to Amsterdam and have a good time.
I'm liberal, and I'm exasperated with society as a whole. Organized religion drives me nuts, yet I'm a very proud Jew. So I myself am certainly prejudiced. And as my grandmother says "I am an equal-opportunity prejudiced person.". She and I also agree, that out of all the kinds of people in the world, we don't hate anyone, except for the stupid and ignorant ones. Which doesn't leave too many left.
I feel like there's no way to resolve anything, so we may as well be high, drunk, and in a red-light district.

It's corrupted you, my dear All that lost innocence . . .
Haha - I'm not THAT naive!
Well, I'll just go to Amsterdam. In fact, my father is encouraging me to go to Europe in off-peak travel times. Something about miles...Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam. Anyone care to join me?
Here is my little rant. I'm staying away from religion for the time being...
The public education system is turning to crap due to the amount of standardized testing in schools. As a student who recently graduated from a school in Texas, the past few years have been full of controversy due to the new TAKS test. I never had to take it to graduate, I had taken the old TAAS test, but I was still forced to take a practice TAKS test so that the state would know how to prepare for the first year that the test would truly be administered for graduation purposes. My english teacher that year was opposed to the idea of making us sit through another standardized test and told us to protest by either not showing up for the test, or just not trying, I believe this occured throughout the state. The following year, the same teacher had her teaching certificate voided due to some comments she made during the testing. She is now wokrkng on her doctorate in education and one day hopes to open her own school. The sad thing is, she was the best english teacher that I have ever had, but due to some comments she is fighting to get back into the classroom. She was a great teacher because she did not teach to the test, and she truly just taught English, I knwo that any of her students could have passed that test if they had taken because she simply just taught English.
I think standardized testing isn't truly educating people. It is teaching people how to make neat bubbles on a bubble sheet. It upsets me to hear children tell me that they hate to read because all they are assigned are practice reading tests. They have no wish to open a book because all they have really been exposed to is mediocre reading tests.
That is all I have in me for now.

As someone who is partnered with a teacher, and whose social circle is comprised almost entirely of educators, I can assure you that you are NOT alone in your disdain for the current focus in education. No child left behind indeed!
BUMP for it's controversialism........HUZZAH!!!
Ok, I was expecting someone to go, "What was that Spider?" about my last post so I could explain myself, but since that never happened, I guess I will have to ask myself that question.
Hey Spider, what the crap does your last post say?
Well, Spider I shall tell you. I read through this thread a few times and each time I get angrier and angrier. Why you ask? Because of comments like, "People who believe in the Bible are brainless idiots" and "Only morons are Christians." Well, folks I am a Christian so I guess you are catagorizing me in this statement. Well, here is my "Think it through" moment of the day. Gay people get REALLY upset when people say they are going to hell because they are gay and gay people are the scum of the earth but I know that is wrong. A lot of you are gay and I love each and every one of you (some more than others) and I respect your decision to be gay. But, why when you hate when people say things about you that you go ahead and say things about other people? Every time I read about how only brainless idiots believe in the Bible, I take it offense to it because even though some might say "Well, you are different," I am still among that group. Sorry if this is long but I felt like I needed to say this. Again, I love you all.
I'm staying away from the religion one for the time being...
Okay, this is almost certainly going to be regarded as contraversial, insensitive, politically incorrect, and perhaps just plain evil, but I really want to say it.
I am f*cking fed up with the "trendiness" of self-destruction, and people who take pride in it. To me, it's selfish, stupid, and awful, and I wish people would just stop it. After talking to WAY too many people who confess that the reason they cut themselves or do drugs or tried to kill themselves or any number of other things who say it was a cry for attention, I'm fed up with it. I, for one, actually try and get help when something's bothering me. I talk to people who care about me.
And when I say it's selfish, I mean, what about the people who buy you bandaids, who make sure you don't drive under the influence, who call your parents when you wind up in the med center? What about your friends, who try EVERYTHING to help you through, and then feel like all that time meant nothing at all?
I'm sick of it. I feel like I'm the only non-self-destructive person I know.
There, that's my contraversial statement.
"Albin, in this country one is innocent until proven guilty....."
Innocent or not, he should still be neutered!
I'm gay and christian Spidey...I don't criticise your religion...
Though SOME christians really do piss me off!
