SUPER Controversial Thread!!! (Not for the faint of heart)

Being a survivor of both moelestation and rape, I can tell you unequivocably that it isn't the end of the world. And in NO WAY would I feel comfortable knowing that those individuals lost their lives because of those actions.

I would say murder is the worst thing that could happen to a person.

I believe that all people should be treated equally regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Every American should be treated equally.

I believe that as long as the fetus is growing in the woman's body it is her choice, since the continuation of the pregnancy affects her more directly than anyone else involved. If the relationship with the impregnating male is a good one, no doubt the decision made will be mutual. If not, they had no business putting the thing there in the first place. And yes, I know some women are stupid and take up with totally inappropriate men. Better to escape before attached by children than after, though. There are too many uncared-for children in the world and in this country now. But it is a wretched form of birth control, and shouldn't be used as such. "Sentencing" them to have the children, though, is not a good nor a sane punishment.

And regarding the previous adoption discussion, I believe the criticism was of those who would only accept a newborn, when there are so many needy children. Newborns need adoption too, but not ONLY newborns do. And I wholeheartedly agree that people need to be more responsible about their reproduction, both personally and for the sake of the planet's continued existence. Updated On: 9/25/04 at 02:28 AM

*sigh* Yeah, but that's how I feel. It disgusts me that someone sentenced to death for committing a horrible murder or murders gets to die in such a relatively easy manner.

"those people who get pregnant more than once or twice are irresponsible, selfish and contributing to the inevitable decimation of our planet. "

I think that there is absolutely no problemat all ith wanting to raise a larger family. And it is, I feel, in a way ignorant to make that statement. I have two sisters and one brother, so according to you my mother would be irresponsible and selfish and someone who doesn't care for the environment?

Restricting the number of children a couple can have would just be more government intrusion into our private lives.

Priest - don't forget the title of the thread - this is where people can express bold statements without filtering. Singingbackup was merely expressing the idea that more attention should be paid to the fact that we don't have unlimited resources, and that involves addressing the issue of how many of us there are. I have no doubt that your mother can be the poster child for humanity - BUT, she's not alone, and if this notion of unchecked breeding isn't addressed, then nature will address it for us - and that WON'T be pretty. Ever hear of AIDS?

Sometimes I think capital punishment gives the person the easy way out, making them rot around by themselves until they die (although financially killing the economy) would probably be worse.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

We need a new 3rd party. One that's not so polar.

Men should take "Anti-Skeevy" classes to learn how to KEEP IT IN THEIR DAMN PANTS AND LEAVE YOUNG LADIES ALONE ON THE STREET!
THAT WILL NOT GET YOU ANYWHERE!

Everyone should be gay and fabulous!

I think a lot of people on Broadwayworld.com should hold the mirror up to their own face and recognize their own intolerance over other people's viewpoints.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Anyone who claims that they can be completely tolerant of other people's view points all the time is lying to themself.

I couldn't agree with you more, most people don't get it.

Okay guys, I may be a minority here since I'm a Republican, but the name-calling and hate PMs? I mean, really. From the people who preach tolerance. Ha.

LG, it's things like that which cause me to not put my political views up on boards or things. I give you credit for it, but I keep my mouth shut whether I agree with people or not just because I don't feel like dealing with everyone else.

I understand.

And I DO bring this all upon myself by debating with their beliefs, so I deserve it.

But the hypocrisy with the preaching of tolerance- really. It kills me.

EDIT: I wrote intelligence instead of tolerance. Damn. I need to go to sleep. Updated On: 9/26/04 at 12:47 AM

LG, can you say that you and the other GOPs of the board have never been as equally disrespectful? It goes both ways. The nastiness is sad, but with all of our passions, I guess it is bound to rear its ugly head. Just please remember that the GOPs of this board push just as hard as they get pushed.

I don't like it when GOPers take too many cheap shots either. I speak for myself, and others who try to be very tactful on this board.

Just because someone else does it, do you all think "Let's insult the crap out of LadyG"?

Are you Conservatives just completely against progress? And there's a big difference between a couple of words on our money and using religion as a means to stop others for living their lives.
