"Not all children who go to bad schools are minorities, and not all whites go to good schools."
Of course you're right Lady G. Not ALL children who go to bad schools are minorities. But the fact is, in this country, the majority of the poor are minorities. And the bad schools exist in poor neighborhoods. Therefore the majority of kids going to bad schools are minorities. You know how many non-minorities go to my school? Two.
White people cause all the problems in the world.

I go to a Catholic school. Know how many minorities go to my school?
They make up about 70% of the school. They can afford the uniforms and tuition. I don't want them getting a leg above me. I'm a multiracial minority, but what matters, I guess, is that my daddy's skin color is white, and I'll be put in the majority group.
(Or if I put 'Other', they'll be intrigued before the interview. I can't believe that I have to actually do that. And they decide that I have an exotic heritage. I don't WANT THAT to get me in. I'm insulted.)
So THEY get more points.
Makes sense?
Erik, I really understand and feel for the problem in the bad schools, and I want to help those people. Throwing that label on ALL minorities just doesn't work- especially with college being so competitive these days.

Erik - wouldn't that make the 'non-minorities' the minority?
the fact that islam has avoided a reformation means that it and its practitioners must be wiped from the face of the earth or face at least 19th century realities.

I never got the 'minority' 'non minority' thing.
Do people use 'minority' to REALLY refer to blacks, Hispanics, Asians, or other minorities? Or do they use it really according to population?
If so, in my school, whites are a minority. There ya go.

Seeing as how many Christian sects are wanting a return to 17th century (or even earlier) mentality, would they be willing to have the Muslims be the progressives?
heck, d, if we could drag the islamofascists into even the 17th century it'd be a step in the right direction. but on the issue that effects you and many others here most directly, at 17th or 19th or 21st century levels the christian response is preferable. remember, the islamic solution is often to hack off the appendage with which one commits a crime.

I know, papa, I know. It's virtually impossible for me to think in terms of 'degrees of badness' - which explains my issues with this particular election.
jules: ...now I want you to go in that bag and find my wallet.
pumpkin: which one is it?

Those 'Boondocks' comics are something else - hadn't even heard of it - I haven't looked at the political catoonists for years.
yeah, i'd probably knock out a few of aaron's teeth if i ever met him and had to converse with him, but even when he's attacking the sacred lambs of my party with huey and co., i can't help but smile.

There are too many people on the planet and those people who get pregnant more than once or twice are irresponsible, selfish and contributing to the inevitable decimation of our planet.
AND, those who only want to adopt newborns are beyond selfish.
I'm all for letting women get abortions but the ones who have accidentally become pregnant more than once (if it wasn't a rape) are just irresponsible and desrve whatever is coming to them, even though I really worry about the kids they have...
theres my controversial thought
1. I love my country but despise some of my countrymen. Those that vote for Bush should die.
2. I really am a versatile top.
Brava, Undi. Brava!
" the fact that islam has avoided a reformation means that it and its practitioners must be wiped from the face of the earth or face at least 19th century realities."
It is because back in the 14th century, or maybe perhaps later, the Muslim scholars closed the "doors" to Ishtahad. What they did was cement the Muslim religion at that time and no new laws about the religion could be made and old ones could not be changed, and prevented it from modernization. So, in acutality, the Muslim religion is *literally* still in the Middle Ages.
Undiscovered, you said exactly what I wanted to.
My younger sister was a newborn when she was adopted. We took her from a very bad situation where her life would have been very miserable and she certainly wouldn't have had the oppurtunities she has now. Is it wrong that we did this? That we enhanced her quality of life? That we gave this amazing girl, who wouldn't have as much of a chance otherwise, a family who loves her and can provide for her and firmly assist her wherever she wants to go? Most certainly not.

-I think affirmative action has more negative impacts than anything else.
-I do not think women and men should be equal in everything.
-It really gets me angry when I hear people say they dislike someone simply because he or she is a Republican/Democrat. It gets me even angrier when someone says they are basing their vote on the fact that they "hate all Republicans/Democrats." I can't comprehend how a responsible voter can even say something like that and I'm so tired of hearing it.
-I'm tired of people giving me an attitude or treating me as if I'm a nun just because I'm a practicing Catholic.
-I don't believe it is the woman's choice to abort a child, and I think the father's opinion should matter a lot more in that issue although personally, I'm anti-abortion all together.
I think that rapists and child molesters should be shot on sight. I really do. I think rape and molestation is, like, the worst thing that can happen to you. I know a couple people who have confided in e about their experiences, and it's like..."OMG. Why you? Why anyone?"
"shot on sight"
Really?
Guilty until proven innocent??
"Shot on sight" is an exageration. I have a tendency to get riled up about this stuff.
Actually, a lot of times in this great country of ours quite a few people are guilty until proven innocent...
Our capital punishments should fit the crime that was committed. For example, Timothy McVeigh should have been strapped into a tall building that was blown up, and see just what it was like to die that way. Lethal injection is too good for those criminals.

Being a survivor of both moelestation and rape, I can tell you unequivocably that it isn't the end of the world. And in NO WAY would I feel comfortable knowing that those individuals lost their lives because of those actions.
