What I think, is that circulating a rumor like this is very stupid. Daily Kos should know better. It's much like the rumors circulating that Obama's birth certificate is phony or that he's a Muslim.
To me it's a sign of desperation, and in this case I don't think we need to be desperate at all about Palin. There is plenty of factual information about her that can be used to discredit her.
If it's true, just keep in mind that there is a teenager and an infant, that through no fault of their own have been pulled into a nasty campaign and they more than anyone else are going to be paying for Palin's lie. And in the meantime, Palin's daughter's reputation has already been called into question. It's just UGLY.

Did you read the article?
Its starting to pick up. Huffpost says its developing and its making rounds on a couple other political blogs. This is how it always starts. Her daughter was taken out of school for mono for 8 months. Photos of Palin in February and March hardly look like that of a pregnant woman. Even if the story is not true, odd that she didn't show or tell anyone not even on her staff she was pregnant til a month before.

Yeah, and I wouldn't put it past McCain's team to be the source of a phony leak hoping that the Dems et al take the bait, trash Palin and family unfairly, and then have it turn out not to be true.
There is plenty to after her for by sticking to the high road. I'd hate to see her garner sympathy votes for having an untrue rumor used to attack her and a 16 year old kid.

WHO CARES. Her daughter's not going to be vice president, and even if this is true, I think it was a good move for Sarah Palin to do that for her daughter so no one would (theoretically) know, and she could still go to school and be relatively normal, even if that wasn't her intention. And if this matters, why didn't anyone call the Bush girls reputations into question before he won?????
I'm still a democrat.
And I have to ask...is the baby's name Trig because that's the class he was conceived in?

McCain's too clever to be tethered to this garbage. However, I wouldn't put it pass the party's disciples of Rove.
If this is a true account, I hope like heck the daughter was not a victim of incest or something equally abominable which would provoke Palin to go to such lengths to shield her family.

In the 8th month of her pregnancy, which she knew to be a Down's Syndrome child, she flew from Alaska to Texas to attend a conference. Her water broke one morning while in Texas, but she decided to give her keynote speech, then fly back from Texas to Alaska, even though mild contractions had begun. This was supposedly done with the consent of her doctor and the airline.

It's also a known fact that women who become pregnant later in life are more at risk for having a child with down syndrome.

Time will tell. Yeah, I thought of Rathergate and Karl Rove leaking it, but there are a lot of odd things going on. The fact NO ONE knew she was pregnant til a month before she gave birth is the biggest one. Many do not believe she was even vetted.

Wait a minute....
The kid was taken out of school for EIGHT MONTHS because she had mono? I had a severe case of mono many years ago and I was homebound for 20 days.

I don't now...it seems a bit too salacious to be true. I somewhat agree that it seems like a rumor put out in the hopes that the Democrats would pick up on it and run with it. It's something worth looking into, but I'm going to stick with legit criticism for now.

Well, the Democrats do not need it. I think we have enough to go by without this. However, one blogger said this is EXACTLY how the John Edwards scandal broke. Lets have the tabloids run with it before anyone serious jumps on it. Personally, if it is true I would have rather it come out later after she is officially the nominee than now. I do not think they fully vetted her. I think some of these campaign managers should consider hiring the media to vet some of their candidates. They seem to be better at digging up dirt than they do.
Again, I keep hearing Dan Rather and Karl Rove's name coming up with this. I am glad its the gossip bloggers and political bloggers who are talking and not the MSM. Its also off that daughter's picture was removed from a website on Sarah Palin's bio. The doctor who also delivered Sarah's baby has an interesting story as well. Even if the story is not true, there is a lot of questions that need to be answered. How does someone's water break and you continue to give a speech then go on a 8 hour flight?
List of Babies born April 18th at hospital where Trig was SAID to be born DON'T include Palins son.Just got this off Sullivans website, this is the hospital site which lists all births and no Palin baby that day or day before or day after.Are they that stupid to not think people would look?
And just in case y'all don't know about Andrew Sullivan, he's a mainstream journalist republican turned Obama supporter.

Well here is a theory.
1. "Babygate" continues to be pushed in fringe Democratic circles, with occasional references in the MSM (like the Times piece).
2. The McCain black ops people note this (assuming they're not driving it), and decide to stoke the fires a bit.
3. The same people plant "evidence" of the rumor's truth in an Alaskan archive somewhere, where journalists - driven by the rumors - will find it.
4. The evidence, when publicized, contains irrefutable proof of being falsified. RW blogs, "helped" by the same people who created the evidence in the first place, show how it is fake.
5. "Babygate" is discredited, and Dems can be fairly attacked for having rounded on a woman and her Downs Syndrome child.
Its the Dan Rather Memogate scandal all over again.
However,there are some holes to her story regarding the birth and the bay that are not clear. Once these questions are answered and we determine there is a logical reason behind them, then the story can be out to rest. But a message to Sarah Palin. Sweetie, you signed up for this. Get use to it. If you took the VP job and knew about this lie its going to come out. Just ask John Edwards who thought he could keep his secret from the press.
If and I say IF this story turns out to be true or even partially true, there are many problems with the things Sarah has done.
1. If the child is her daughters, it is ridiculous at best & downright abusive at worst, to force your child to hide a pregnancy. This is not the 50's. The only reason Sarah would do this is to protect her own ass.Her own DUMB ass that is against sex education. She believes in abstinence only. No matter WHOSE child that is, the fact is that at the very least her other daughter is now pregnant. This means that her ABSTINENCE ONLY plan didn't work out so well. Would this be a time for her to learn from experience & realize that sex education is a NECESSITY? Of course not.
2. If the child is HERS, frankly, it's even worse. She says she knew from the amnio at 13 weeks that Trig would have Downs Syndrome. Factoring this in, along with age, how responsible was it to fly to Texas when she was 36 weeks pregnant? How responsible was it, that when her water broke, she decided to stay in Texas at the conference she was attending, GIVE A SPEECH and then FLY HOME TO ALASKA? On a flight that included a layover. Upon landing in Alaska, she chose not to go to the closest hospital. Instead, they drove 45 minutes to the hospital closer to their home. What kind of HUMAN BEING does that? She took a maternity leave of THREE DAYS. That's right, 3 days. There is no job in this country that could legally demand your return in 3 days. It's completely unheard of and totally unhealthy. It points to a lack of care and concern for her son. What mother decides that going to work 3 days later is more important than bonding with her child?
All of the above points to what kind of person Sarah is. She seems ridiculously shallow & uneven at best. How about the fact that she DID NOT DISCUSS WITH HER FAMILY the ramifications of her accepting the VP nod from McCain? She told her parents to listen to the radio for a special announcement and told her son to watch the TV.
Her parenting is atrocious. She only cares about herself. I wouldn't put her second in command at the SPCA, much less my country. She is clearly not operating with a full deck & is selfish to the hilt.
As for the silly fundies that are behind her 100% I can't help but wonder at those IDIOTS! This woman does not promote family values! She puts HER ambition above that of her family time and again.She didn't even have the common decency to let her children know she was about to throw their entire family into chaos. Do some research. I guarantee that EVERY SINGLE OTHER CANDIDATE EVER has told a story about how they consulted with their family first. These decisions affect lives. You go from being a private citizen to having secret service protection. It is a HUGE change! Did she prepare her family for this? NO.
