I agree with leaving the kids alone, but in this case it DOES reflect a lot on Sarah's character. Her daughter exposes Sarah's hypocrisy. This woman has too many family problems to be running for VP.She has a 17 year old pregnant daughter and a child with down syndrome. If she is elected VP its country first. Sounds like her family needs her more but that's not stopping her from such a powerful position. Is Palin stupid or selfish?
No, I hope the Enquirer digs into this open with such passion as they had with the John Edwards scandal.Something is here. Less than 24 hours ago RW bloggers were accusing liberals of making up this lie about her and her daughter. Well, one turns out to be true and I am sure the other half is true as well.

Ah yes, but what to do about the fact that this is a prime example of how abstinence-only education is a failure and her mother is a proponent of it? And if the "Bristol has mono for eight months and can't go to school" story pans out to have brought the world A Boy Called Trig, well then, we have another prime example of a pious woman with staunch religious beliefs who wants to have a voice in what OTHER women do with their bodies and who is more concerned with upholding the illusion of the perfect family and a woman who "has it all" when all it takes is a little scratching the surface to see it's a sham.
This is the best contemporary example of "The personal is political" I may have yet encounterd in my life.

If the media makes this their story 24/7 its possible that she will not be nominated Wednesday night but someone else could be. Anyone else wonder if other VP's are being vetted as we speak? She is bringing A LOT of baggage to McCain's campaign. You can not tell me McCain is not Pissed off over all of this.
If the MSM lets it go it will be something we all know but just ignore like Bush's drug use and military record.

Who names their kid Bristol?
All of this feels like bullying another woman out of the White House, though. If Palin steps down out of shame, McCain will probably just nab some white guy with a long list of dalliances, mistresses and drug use that will probably be overlooked.

Palin's press secretary didn't know two days ago that Bristol was pregnant.
So, Sarah didn't tell anyone on her staff She was pregnant til she was almost due and now her staff knew nothing about this. We have had a secretive VP for the past 8 years but this woman makes Cheney look honest.
Her staff is suppose to protect her and look out for her yet she keeps them in the dark on 2 important issues. I bet her staff hates her.

I love how they had to divulge the truth of Bristol's pregnancy to squelch the rumors of Grannygate.
I also enjoy the quote: "Bristol plans to marry the young man."
I wonder if the young man knows this, or even if she knows who the young man IS.

If memory serves many states have a 6 week absentee ballot requirement so the window of opportunity for McCain to do the old switch-a-roo is closing quickly. If they disenfranchise a subset of voters (mainly suspicious indies) due to last minute shenanigans, it's curtains for McCain.

BTW, re the argument that Down syndrome births are more likely for older mothers...
Although the probability increases with maternal age, 80% of children with Down syndrome are born to women under the age of 35, reflecting the overall fertility of that age group. Recent data also suggest that paternal age, especially beyond 42, also increases the risk of Down Syndrome manifesting in pregnancies.
