Sarah Palin is so characteristic of the women in my own church who are so busy praising Jesus at every prayer group in the vicinity--and attending every function of the local garden clubs--that they don't monitor their childrens' activities. Then they mouth platitudes like: "This will make them grow up fast." Oh sure, that'll happen, but those kids are now going to lose their youth. Instead of going to proms or senior trips, Little Miss Palin will be looking for a babysitter.

It's really sad when you think of it.

The McCain spokesperson on The Today Show described SP as the "best qualified" candidate. That is just not a rational statement.

On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, "I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.

"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."

"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.

He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

I do think the babygate thing is a bit silly. The media is acting like Palin herself got coked up and performed oral sex on stage at a Pantera concert while carving a pentagram in her own forehead. A conservative Christian's daughter got knocked up as a teen. It's barely even an afterschool special. The next thing you know, she and her friends may sneak across the county line and plan a prom! Scandalous! I don't know about y'all, but I'm holding out for a hero.

I don't get why Bristol and Levi are not already married? They keep saying that they will wed, but she 5 months into it. What are they waiting for? I don't think there was ever marriage plans, until McCain called to offer Sarah P. the job.

Anyone else tired of the new flavor finger wagging? Every pundit, reporter, surrogate, colmunist warning us to back off, her family's off limits! Don't say another word about this!

As though a candidate's family, family life, family choices, and parade of family behavior isn't shoved in our faces day in, day out as part of the "personal narrative..." No sooner had we heard that this is a good pick for McCain because this "mom" has a "story to tell" we are being told to ignore the very story we were fed Friday morning because -- gasp! -- it invades the privacy of her minor children. That privacy was entirely lacking on Friday morning, folks. We are a nation who elects "a good story" and "a personal narrative," and the moving, all-american tale we were sold as 50% of the reason to pull that lever -- along with the ancient Viet Nam mystique of the co-ticket -- is now off limits? I know, I know -- Sarah's "story" isn't poor innocent Bristols. Well, it was when she shoved her onstage holding the miracle baby. As long as Bristol was a one dimensional cliche, she was ours for the photo ops.

It's so dubious, so patently hypocritical to ask the culture to make their decisions in part based on a "gut" appraisal of a candate's cherished "values" -- demonstrated in a personal life -- only as long as those choices are consistent with some carefully orchestrated ideology. The fact is, this unwanted pregnancy and looming shotgun marriage are "off-limits" only because it's steeped in hypocrisy and humiliation.

I will follow this "personal story," thank you, as long as I choose to. As will many millions, who want to know who the hell thought this choice was good for a "country first" campaign.

It's really sad...and pathetic...when you think about it. Bristol (as well as her illicit lover) is being exploited: "Here is a perfect example of why we NEED more abstinence education! This is why we NEED to make sure the traditional nuclear family is preserved at all costs! This is why we NEED to reinforce the sanctity of marriage between two heterosexual adults and make sure any DEVIANT behavior is squelched before our young people think it's an 'option'!"

Wolf Blitzer just announced that the McCain campaign is pulling McCain's interview with Larry King in reaction to this Campbell Brown interview with Tucker Bounds last night. They say that it crossed the line. CNN stands by Campbell and says it does not cross the line.

So they cancelled the Larry King interview. Because of that??? What a f**king joke! That wasn't abuse, that was plain, pressing journalism...you know, the kind we need more of on television. I'm speechless at these unbelievable crybabies.
