Hey you guys! Our director is really cracking down on us in rehersals. She said if we are not giving our all, we will be kicked out. I am just getting over a SERIOUSLY bad cold and my my voice is shot. I came really close to losing my voice and i dont know how to make it get better and back to normal. Does anyone have any tips for me? Thanks you so much!
Ditto for me too. I've had this terrible cold and cough since friday and it hasn't gotten any better. I have my first rehersal tomorrow and I can't miss it. I don't want the director to regret casting me.
I've been drinking fluids like there's no tomorrow. It doesn't seem to be helping me any though.
First of all, tell your director! The last thing you want to do now is overwork your voice so just say,
"Look, I'm just recovering from a bad cold, so my voice right now isn't in it's best shape, but I want you to know that I will still give my all to the rehearsals." or something like that.
I'm sure he'll understand, and maybe he'll even suggest some remedies for you!
Ditto to what hannah said. If you don't tell her you're sick, she's not going to know.

Get some throat coat tea. This stuff really helps. I don't like the taste but you do what you got to do. I think I'm starting to get used to it. It really does help. But don't stain your voice if it hurts. You are just in rehearsals. Give your best, but I would explain that you are sick to your director. Someone recently told me lemonade is a decongestant...has anyone tried this? She told me it gets rid of the mucas in your throat.
yeah I'm doing Little Shop right now, and i'm starting to get sick
Airbourne is a life save if you're not really sick yet, but definitely tell your director...
I reccommend getting some Emergen-C. They sell it at CVS. I had a terrible cold and was losing my voice and I started taking it every day and it got MUCH better. It just gives your immune system a real boost so you'll get better fast. Also it gives you a little energy boost which is a plus.
