"Where's my Daddy?!?"

Bergh...one of the saddest episodes they've ever had. And one of the most realistic depictions of grief I've ever seen.

SFU

I'm really glad that I was watching by myself for once, as I cried for the whole episode. Michael Hall is f*cking amazing. And when Brenda needed Billy for once....oh god.

One thing wasn't clear to me. It may have been that I missed an episode, but who was the person in the red hooded sweatshirt that David kept seeing. Was that the guy that attacked him a while back? Was David feeling unprotected now that Nate was gone?

Yes.

SFU

Vb yes that was the maniac who held David captive and tortured him. I have never had that experience but I felt it was a little overdone last night. David was freaked out and that's understandable but he was totally hallucinating. The father/son dynamic is interesting. I don't remember the father being such a demonic presence before this season.

SFU

If I'm remembering correctly, Nate Sr. has been nasty in some instances, usually David's b/c of his insecurities.

SFU

So many moments got to me:

Ruth "I want my beautiful son"

David breaking down shoveling the dirt onto Nate.

Maya. Just Maya.

Brenda breaking down in Billy's arms.

Ruth walking David to the grave.

Ruth helping wash Nate's body.

Ruth's face when David yelled "At least I was there".

George's kind words.

Claire recalling the interviewing Nate story.

David's kids making him alphabet soup.

Many many more.

Frances Conroy and Michael C. Hall are exceptionally brilliant.

Has Michael C. Hall won any awards for his acting in this series?
I remember thinking he deserved an Emmy for the maniac hostage episode but I can't remember if he actually won that year.

I skipped over all the posts, but I had to say that seeing this thread at the top is driving me NUTS! I got off a train last night at 9, and didn't get home until 9:25, and I just couldn't bring myself to hop in mid-espisode. Good thing it's re-airing at 10 tonight! I'm assuming it was fabulous...a tear jerker, the whole nine yards.

Yes, but remember that Nate Sr.'s personality depends on who is envisioning his spirit. David sees his father as favoring Nate Jr. and seeing David as the disappointment...

Nate Sr.'s ghost interacts with each character in the way that character perceived him in life.

So I totally felt like I went to a funeral after watching that episode last night. I will miss this show, so much. It it unbelievable. YEs I agree with whoever said, that this is the best dramatic ensemble on TV...without a doubt. They are all wonderful, but Frances Conroy and Michael C. Hall take it to another level. I've never felt compelled to go up to famous people when you see them on the street and say, YOU're great. I love you in ___ but I often see Michael C. Hall in my neighborhood, and I really feel like telling him how brilliant he is!

Is it me or is there something really mixed up when " 6 Feet Under " ends & shows like Fear Factor & The Simple Life are still on the air

I will miss it too. But I (kind of)liked how they ended it. it compels you to finish off any unfinished business. I wanted it to go on a little.......... bit......... longer. But it went out as it came in. With a bang. Bravo SFU! You will be missed.

Has Michael C. Hall won any awards for his acting in this series? I remember thinking he deserved an Emmy for the maniac hostage episode but I can't remember if he actually won that year.

Was he even nominated?? For some reason, I recall being dumbfounded, checking and rechecking the nominees and not seeing his name there. Maybe I'm mistaken. It seems that the actors on Six Feet Under are generally (w/ the exception of Frances Conroy) ignored...certainly the past couple of seasons, it seems.

I watched the re-airing last night. So sad. I watched it solo in w/ the lights off, and just cried and cried. I really loved Claire in this episode. From recalling her rejected interview w/ Nate, to showing up at the service in jeans in a t-shirt, telling David "Well, then you win," after being called out on it, to helping to lower Nate into the grave...a great episode for her.

I can't imagine what will happen in the next two episodes! Very sad indeed that this show's coming to an end.

I believe Hall and Krause were nominated at the same time a couple years ago, but neither won.

Because I'm bored at work (from HBO.com):

In 2002, Hall garnered nominations for the Emmy® Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Drama Series.

Peter Krause has been nominated for 2 Emmy® Awards, 2 Golden Globe® Awards, and 2 SAG Awards for his performance on Six Feet Under. He has received 2 SAG Awards as part of the Six Feet Under ensemble.

For her portrayal of Ruth, Frances Conroy has been honored with a Golden Globe Award® and a Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as two additional Screen Actors Guild Awards shared with her fellow actors for the ensemble's collective work in the series. She has been nominated for an Emmy Award® as well.

Rachel Griffiths won the Golden Globe Award for her performance on the HBO series "Six Feet Under" (which also won Best Drama Series) in 2002...Griffiths was also nominated for an Emmy® for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for "Six Feet Under" in 2003, and she was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama, again for "Six Feet Under," in 2002.

Freddy Rodriguez has earned an Emmy Award® nomination, two Alma Awards, a Nosotros Award and two SAG Awards (for Best Ensemble in a Drama).

It doesn't say in her bio, but I believe Lauren Ambrose was also nominated for an Emmy (early on in the run...maybe the first season??)

My opinion is they should have all been nominated and each should have won. Undeniably the best performances on television/cable.

OK...since the you really can't talk about the episode without "spoilers"..I'll bump this thread...

Anyone else have a serious EWWWWWWW moment during Brenda and Billy's "encounter"....even if it was a dream......
#100

SFU

The Brenda/Billy thing is sickening to me. Claire was revolting tonight. David is a raving lunatic and is having hallucinations of escaped killers attacking his children (Nate is now wearing the red hood). Ruth is thinking about raising Maya with George. Maya looks drugged. I hated tonight's episode.
