Ew.
Even in a political discussion, that seems too dirty

Biden's not awful - had it been Nunn, I would have been livid instead of dissapointed. But Obama's given McCain the advantage to pick someone "interesting". If McCain picks a woman, Obama's "change" is going to seem awfully hollow.

ETA: But he's still going to win in November. And the focus should be on Obama, not his running mate.

Obama, the candidate for change, the person who said Hillary Clinton was part of the Washington machine and old politics, picks Joe Biden as his running mate? Joe Biden, the epitome of Washington. Seriously, WTF?
Never thought I'd say it, but I'm thinking McCain because Obama has shown his true side. I just don't get it. With Hillary on the ticket, the White House is a lock. Is he so threatened with her that he makes a decision that will cost him the election? That poor judgement already tells me he won't make good decisions as president.

I understand why he was picked, he brings MUCH needed national securit/Foreign policy knowledge/experience to the table, but he has the potential to say VERY damaging things.

He's an old white man.

Truly, all he needs to do is grab a woman or Joe Lieberman and Obama's toast. Either one will let the MSM has a field day with who's more about change (say what you want, but only plugged in people get that Lieberman's a DICO - Democrat in Caucus Only and they'll play up the bipartisanship forever) and, with McCain already claming "experience," the only thing left will be the inevitable return of a massive liver spot on McCain's forehead to dissuade people from voting for old farty.

Party changing decision? I disagree with you. I believe its a example of another flip flop on his part. Obama has still not convinced me that he isn't just as phoney as everyone he has critized. If he wants to play politics now, why doesn't he bite the bullet and put Hillary on the ticket and insure victory in November? His male ego is showing again. He can campaign as the candidate for change because he is black and a fetus when it comes to experience. However, when he can do the right thing for his party and country, he can't bring himself to add a white woman because she beat him in every big state in the primaries, who has more experience than him.
Ah, the male ego. Such a tragic thing that always gets in the way of good decision making.

that man would sink McCain instantly I'm PRAYING he picks him.
OH and MC, if you think that Hillary not bein gon the ticket was ANYONE but hillary's decision, than you're delusional.

This gaff from Ted Kennedy always has me in stitches.

There is no way the Republicans will fail to gather behind McCain because he is their only tool to remain in power. McCain could select a pro-choice baboon and they'd whine and cry and fall in line (how many crazy pundits said they'd never vote for him are now "Carrying his water" on a daily basis?).

Yet Hillary would have been a good choice for you??? Shall we review the things she's said about Obama that make Biden look like Obama's BFF? That's very interesting logic, and says a lot.
"Ah, the male ego. Such a tragic thing that always gets in the way of good decision making."
LOL! see above.
Bottom line, in the real world, is most of the press response to this is very positive, and polls are already showing people think it was a good choice by two to one. Polling comments from those who think it was a bad choice overwhelmingly say he should have picked Hillary. So there you go. My guess is that for most of the naysayers, any choice other than Hillary would have been a disastrous deal breaker.
Really, besides Hillary, who else would have made folks here happy? It's not a fabulous choice. But who would have been a fabulous choice? Biden does the most important thing for the election. He eases the doubts of the folks who are afraid of Obama. He's old, white, catholic and stable. All the things that the folks Obama still needs look for. And he compliments Obamas economy strengths with his foreign affairs strengths.

BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WANT IT. What part of that don't you get? He's probably already promised her a cabinet position. And Bill will be Ambassador to the entire free world. Admittedly, choosing Hilary (had she accepted) would have been bigger, more exciting news in the short term, but long term it would have been a train wreck. The entire election and presidency would have been about Hilary and Bill when the spotlight should be on Obama. Win or lose, he should do it on his own merits. I wouldn't want to see him be accused of riding into the White House on Hilary's coattails.

Congratualtions on selecting your running mate. However, as someone who signed up to receive a text message, I feel a bit duped.
I thought the idea was for your supporters to be the first to know. So you send the message at 2:34 a.m. Central time (according to my phone)?!? Instead of feeling a buzz from my phone, which I had been carrying with me the past couple days because I truly was excited to learn the news, I actually found out from AOL and MSNBC television almost simultaneously. Now, I am left feeling that this only was a ploy to get as much contact info from people as possible and not also an effort to make your supporters feel special.
This was a great idea poorly executed.

Is he a gaffe machine? Absolutely, but his gaffes pale in comparison to McCain's.

And you do realize they share your info to their "partners"? You're going to be getting calls all the time now asking to help a brother out.

This has been a major disappointment.
I'll still vote for Obama.
But I won't watch the conventions.
I won't campaign for him (this will be the first time I won't be working for the democratic nominee).
I won't donate any money.
I won't urge my friends to vote.
If he gets elected - good. If he doesn't - we'll live.
He does have the ability to make me want to do more. Likewise - he could still lose my vote. We'll see what happens.
