Oh don't even get me started on Les Mis. Practically that whole show makes me cry. It's embarrassing.

"My Heart Will Go On" - Celine Dion
"Send in the Clowns" from A Little Night Music
"Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson
"Over the Rainbow" - Judy Garland
"You'll Never Walk Alone" - Judy Garland
"On My Own" from Les Miserables

That goddamn Christmas shoes song. It turns me into a blubbering idiot every time. To be fair, it aims outrageously for the tear ducts.

There are a few... But thought I'd stick to the most surprising one.
Oddly enough...
"Pray" from Once on This Island
If you want to talk about surprising... I tend to get choked up at strong musical "push" moments (key changes, full chorus singing forward, etc.) Something in the energy of the moment really affects me. The really obvious example would be the final key change in Les Miserables, EVERYONE'S crying at that point, but a similar key change/push happens during Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats. So, yeah, I'm the only queen in the theater getting emotional over the opening number of Cats. It's a little embarrassing.
Well, on Friday I was watching Mr. Holland's Opus which I haven't seen in a while, and I just love the music in that movie!
Especially Visions of a Sunset--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUrpcSRUlRk
Richard Dreyfuss singing Beautiful Boy-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0IMASimhRo&feature=related
And the final American Symphony for the finale.
Definitely got teary eyed lol.
I have to add a song by my boyfriend to the mix. This song made me cry when I first heard it but now so much now. It's not a sad song, really. Just that I think the lyrics and harmonies are so pretty. Tennessee Line by Daughtry. Vince Gill sings the harmony and it's just so pretty the first few times I heard it I teared up. I know Joe hates him, (j/k) but I just love my boy and am so proud of him.
I don't care who covers it but "Butterfly Kisses" will turn this sarcastic no tear duct B*tch into a blubbery mess.
and "I'll Cover You "Reprise" if done right, "You Had Me From Hello" - Bon Jovi (Bounce album) for personal reasons, "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche, and yes that damn ASPCA commercial gets me everytime

Omg, that Christmas Shoes song is just too much. lol It doesn't make me sad so much as make me curse whatever radio station and DJ is playing it. I usually have to tune out when it comes on.
A sampling, in no particular order, of songs which tend to get to me in varying degrees, from making me just feel sad to making me cry outright.:
Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye (traditional Irish anti-war song)
^ Imho, could take the prize for saddest song ever.
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams or the BJ Thomas version)
Everybody Hurts (REM)
Tears in Heaven (Clapton)
Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkel)
Luka (Suzanne Vega)
^ Hesitant to admit to this one. lol This dang hokey song will still, on occasion, pop into my head for no discernible reason, which can be a trifle annoying, but I've learned to go with it and "just don't argue anymore." - Barb
