I'll be at Les Mis tomorrow night, so I'll have to catch up on Thursday. In a fit of boredom, I caught some of the Rob/Amber wedding special and Rob really came off as a very nice guy. I know that was essentially the purpose of the show, but I truly see a great buy behind his strategic villainous character he uses for the game.
I don't even see him being particularly villainous in the game. He just has this sense of entitlement (which is what I hate more than anything else) that this is HIS game and he is in control of how it goes and of everyone else from day one. When someone doesn't agree with him, he actually is shocked that they could disagree with his all knowingness and I truly think he doesn't understand how others can't just understand he is the clear winner and they are all just there to help him on his way to the final two.
It's that right there that makes him unwatchable to me.
I DETEST Russell.
I don't want to see Rob again (enough!), but I don't hate him the way I hate Russell. I hate everything about that man.
I'm torn.
Initially I'd stated that I wouldn't watch this season - but I AM curious as to how Redemption Island will play into the game. I have my Tivo set to record this week... will give it a try.
But, as someone earlier stated about Rob, I hope the team that Russell is on votes him off immediately.
Too bad the public doesn't get a 'vote'!
Too bad the public doesn't get a 'vote'!
That would be worse. It is exactly what Russell wanted. He was voted audience favorite, after all. Gross.
I definitely hate Russell more than Rob, but still hate Rob. It's just a matter of degrees.
Jordan, you have it exactly right about Rob. I've liked villains before on this show, but his entitlement is just nauseating.
He may have been a nice guy for his wedding, which didnt need televising, but he was just as gross and obnoxious on Amazing Race. He was even more underhanded there, with Ambuh!
Plus he was mean to the dreamiest survivor, John Carroll. I really hated him for that!
Ok. I watched.
That was one crazy-ass tribal council!
I'm hooked.

This is the first time I've watched in ages, but man, that tribal council was insane. My only thought is that Mr Former Federal Agent is so hard-wired to be about truth and justice that he completely short-circuited when Francesqua [sic] clumsily said what she said about Rob not being voted off, not understanding what she was doing.
I don't know if I'll continue watching. Jordan hits the nail of Rob's entitlement right on the head (something that Jeff Probst feeds into as well, season after ever-loving season). This may have just been a one-off for me.

Thoughts on tonight: I loved what Rob said when he voted off Francesca tonight. It was HILLARIOUS! Phillip is probably one of the stupidest players to ever play this game. It's a good thing Kristina was not on the same tribe as Russell because they might've teamed up together.
Phillip is BY FAR the stupidest player, maybe ever.
I liked Francesca, I hope she gets a second shot. And why didnt they show who voted for who at the end??

"I liked Francesca, I hope she gets a second shot."
It was not smart for her to say that Rob was not going home because that was going to make Phillip go crazy.

You're right about that.
Man, that tribal council was amazing. It'll go down as one of the best in the shows history, for sure.
I have it on Tivo (even though I watched it), and may just have to watch it again. The expressions on everyone's faces during Tribal Council (including Jeff's) were priceless. One of the all-time best ever!
I liked Francesca, also. Hope she is able to come back.
It cracked me up that Phillip couldn't remember her name. He is SUCH an idiot! And I hope the guy wears pants the rest of the show. I have NO interest in seeing him in his little red briefs.
There are some interesting personalities on this season's Survivor. I'm hooked.
I, actually, like both Kristina and Francesca most out of everyone that night- I wish they had run far, far away from Phillip from the beginning.
When I have to deal with a person like that, I make myself a solid part of the nearest group of people and toss bread crumbs at them- it makes them feel like they're inferior, but I'm nice enough to lend them a helping hand.
I hope that Phillip grates on the group more than Kristina does- something unforgivable, and then Kristina is wily enough to make an in, and then Francesca comes back later. I want it to be interesting once they merge.
On Russell's side, I really appreciate the wiles of the his newest parasite, and hope to see her wreak utter havoc on the rest of the group.
It's a really fun season.

Ouch, ratings dropped 29% from the "Heroes vs. Villains" premiere! The show debuted with with 11. 2 million viewers and was the lowest-rated premiere. Entertainment Weekly said that the drop was due to the fact "Survivor" went up against "Idol," and also that viewers were disappointed with the previous season "Nicaragua" and may not have wanted to watch this season. "Idol" however hit a Wednesday low.

Of course we all liked Francesca and Kristina - virtually no one else was given any screen time! At one point during the challenge I saw a guy with dreds and thought, "Wait - there's a guy with dreds?"
Is Phillip actually NOT a federal agent? Did anyone notice that every time his name was shown there was actually a question mark after "Former Federal Agent"?
Also, do you think they'll be "what if"ing at every commercial break from now on or was that just for this episode? I just can't imagine anyone watching those annoying bumpers and thinking, "Yeah, food for thought." Who effing cares?
I still don't think Francesca did anything stupid, aside from align with Phillip at first. That sort of unhinged lunacy ain't the fault of the person who sparks it, and aside from clumsily backing up and saying "Of course Rob isn't going to be voted out" (which - however clumsy - I understood to be just her trying to cover her ass), there was no reason for him to lose it like that.
Rob has never actually won the game, right? All the jizzing over him by Probst and I keep thinking, really? I mean, he's crafty and it's kind of fun to watch him exploit really stupid people, but it's not like his superior game playing skills have really benefited him, save for him and his wife making a career out of being professional reality show people.
No, hes never won and he just doesn't understand how that's possible!
As far as this season goes, me likey Mikey. Me want more screentime with him!
Mikey is milquetoast- I'd say he's Fabio Lite, but he's more like a JT (when successful) or, god forbid, Chase. I have a feeling he'll do well, though.
What I don't like about the rest of Rob's tribe is that they all seem so uniform. None of them are taking chances, which I suppose is smart, but not compelling, and doesn't lend room to the kind of person I enjoy seeing win. I want them to unfurl as soon as possible.
I think they need to get Rob off their team if that's going to happen. They're already treating like him like he's their leader and not wanting to make waves in the tribe by doing anything stupid (or anything at all).
Yeah, I hope Kristina ups her social game and seduces a riot out of that group.
I'm actually sort of liking how they brought back those two; we know already that Russell and Rob will not win, but at least on Russell's side of the fence, it's interesting how they're battling to use Russell as a shield (or, as a vendetta to attract attention away from themselves).
Stephanie is a really compelling character (though, as I think about it, I predict bad things to happen to her). And, although I hate the situation, it is interesting to watch the dissidents of Camp Rob scramble around for life- it's instantly dynamic.
I really don't like the smug veteran, and I hope he goes down in flames. Survivor isn't a game that anything truly readies you for. You can gain certain skills that will aid you, but anytime a person says that they know how to mix those skills in some form of implacable strategy, I just wait for the other shoe to drop.
Phillip is BY FAR the stupidest player, maybe ever.
Too soon to tell. He certainly illustrated well that he either has never watched a single episode of the show or that he is straight-up CRAZY and cannot be trusted with info. Excuse me, I meant...intel. I can't imagine he's any significant sort of ex other than an ex-husband. Multiple times over.
The one thing that really bugged me about Kristina was her insistence that she HAD to tell Phillip about the idol and their strategy. She didn't have to tell him JACK. It was way too soon to deploy that sort of move. The only good thing about it is that everyone got to see exactly how unstable Phillip is.
I rather liked how gutsy (or truly stupid) she was to not play the idol. I'd like to think that she figured out Boston Rob's voting strategy with his minions and did the math. It still took balls even if she's just stupid.
I think after that baffling display of crazy, she figured she would most likely be safe and could hold on to it for another few days.
I.... I can't even wrap my head around what the f**k just happened.
I mean... what the F**K!!!!!!?!?!?!??
Phillip needs to .... I don't know... there is more than just a screw loose up there. That man is ABSOLUTE CRAZY and the worst part is that he doesn't even know it and he NEVER WILL!
Kristina and Francesca are phenomenal. I am so disappointed because I was REALLY looking forward to getting to know them both better and fear we'll see the last of them soon.
Damn.... I'm jumpin' outta my pants with absolute CRAZY-BOT FEVER! What absolute insanity!
You know Boston Rob was pissing himself with excitement. He can just sit there and let Phillip steal the focus and watch the crazy unfold.
When Ralph found that idol, I about pissed myself I laughed so hard.
