I told myself I wasn't going to watch this season any more, but ended up tuning in last night. When Rob was going on and on about wanting to provide for his family, my first inclination was to him, "get a frickin job like the rest of us." His sense of entitlement about winning Survivor because he's been playing for 10 years is beyond me.
...and yet, for some inexplicable reason, I hope he wins.
I've been watching the entire season, but kind of can't wait for it to be over.
(Dottie, I agree with every word you write - which is why I don't understand why I don't mind Rob winning...)
I wouldn't mind Rob winning at this point because he and Matt are the only ones to have actually accomplish anything thus far. Whoever formulates a successful plan to take out Rob will probably win. Except Phillip. I can't imagine anyone giving him a vote, which is why he'll probably be in the final. The only problem with taking an easy target to the final is that it can backfire because you took an easy target to the final and with an F3, the third person could do nothing and easily win the game just for not being crazy and not taking a crazy person to the end.
What is the entire I'm a crazy person was all put on by Philip......going to final tribal and announcing it was all an act to get to the end (because of his age, etc) would be epic.

I've thought that before, and the commercials for the most recent episode certainly played something like that up (even though nothing came of it). If he's really putting on an act, it's pretty impressive, although it makes what he did to Steve even more unforgivable. Personally, I think he's just crazy as a sh*thouse rat.
I don't care if Philip is really crazy or not. Either way, he's intolerably dull. He's crazy in a way that is so uninteresting to me. And if he reveals it was all an act to get to the final, it would only give me more reason not to vote for him. It would mean he annoyed everyone and drove them crazy on purpose. I'm not sure how many people would want to give him a million dollars for that.
Didn't he say something to his sister about how he's been pretending to be crazy?
I honestly don't remember. I tend to tune him out when he's speaking.
I think he did. And he's alluded to that in his interviews before as well. If it's true it's one of the riskiest things anyones ever done on the show to stay alive.
Wow. The season finale is on Sunday. That was...quick.
I knew it was coming up soon, but it seemed like there were too many people still hanging around. They have to get rid of 4 people between now and Sunday? This is a really weird season.
The commercial said there are still 9 people there so they need to get rid of 6. This just seems way too rushed.
See, I'm really confused. I thought there were 9 people last week (the alliance of 6 plus 3 on Redemption Island) and they got rid of 2. Oh wait, one went to RI, so wouldn't that make it 8? What? Who? Huh? I guess I would know if I really cared.
Eight is correct. On RI -- Matt, Mike and Andrea. At camp -- Rob, Phillip, Grant, and two of the Rob-ots whose names I forget.

This was my first Survivor in something like four seasons, and it may well be my last. Dull, horribly slanted towards Rob, Phillip and Matt (via the infernal Redemption Island) and just a whole lot of not fun.
I'll probably never give up on Survivor, but this season has been a dud thus far. Overambitious and poorly cast.

You and my mom both. She is OBSESSED with it.
I'm proof that you dont have to actually watch it. I've been enjoying this thread even though I'm boycotting the actualy show (I'll be back watching the next one, tho.)

It really unfortunate that the last two seasons of this show have been bad. There was nothing much to like about last season, and the only thing I enjoyed about this season was watching Russell get voted off and losing on "Redemption Island." In other news the show will be returning to Samoa for the next two seasons.

Me too, doodle :) Reading what you guys have to say is infinitely more entertaining than watching the exceedingly unpleasant/boring/stupid people they've cast this time around. And I stay far, far away from SurvivorSucks.
I know it's unlikely, as he's an executive producer, but the show really needs a new host. A neutral one. I think Probst is a big reason I haven't enjoyed recent versions all that much. He obviously picks his darlings and makes sure that's about all we see throughout the course of the show, so we end up with disproportionate time focused on the Phillips, the Robs, the Russells, the Coaches and such.
I've always liked Probst and I do think he's extremely dedicated to the project, but I have to agree that he's been tilting the scales too much for a few years now. Not just in the focus on certain players, but also in the manipulation of the tribal councils. It was better when he was making discoveries about the tribe rather than playing on the footage he's been watching. It's really obvious.
Bingo. And no matter how many times we're promised a "best tribal council ever," it rarely matches the delightfully natural nastiness of snakes vs. rats.
Sue set that bar pretty high in the first season. The one other time that came pretty close was a few seasons ago when that woman basically shouted out who she was voting for and why for all to hear. That was stellar. And Sue later kept true to form when she wimped out over Richard's weenie during the All Stars season. She even walked out of the reunion. Good times. They don't make them like that any more. Jane had nothing on Sue.
LOL -- Crystal. She annoyed the hell out of me at the time, but she would be welcome against anyone this time around. As would anyone else from that cast (stalker Charlie, dirty fingernails Kenny, creepy Randy or any of the others I didn't care for from then). And that yelling was one of the more recent classic moments.
