Did anyone watch Seance on a Wet Afternoon the other night? Marvelous performance by Kim Stanley in that.
I missed THE HAIRY APE. I think CSN performed the play last week. I missed that too.
But it's okay, because MARNIE is on later.
NOW, VOYAGER is on tomorrow.
BOEING, BOEING and H2$ are on later this month.
Night Nurse (1931)
A nurse discovers that the children she's caring for are murder targets.
Cast: Barbara Stanwyck, Ben Lyon, Clark Gable. Dir: William A. Wellman.
She's so cool!
Just started. Looks good!
How was "Three on A Match?" Love Bette Davis, never saw this movie. I'm in work, so I taped it.....
We're watching MARNIE.
We watched NIGHT NURSE last night.
What the hell was that? It was an hour and fifteen minutes long, and except for setting up the "Pal" character, the first thirty were pointless.
Tivo said it was about two nurses who find out about a murder plot. Only one nurse found out about the scheme. The other one wasn't even there for most of the Hart in the house scenes.
I'd love to write the remake. It's a great idea, but so badly executed. I could do so much with it.
Maybe it just doesn't age well.

And on Friday night, TCM is running an amazing double feature: THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED UP ZOMBIES followed by RAT PFINK A BOO BOO.
Do not miss them. Essential viewing.
For any fans of 110 in the Shade, The Rainmaker with Katharine Hepburn is on right now!
Saturday, March 8...what an incredible night on TCM!

8:00 PM The Apartment (1960)

10:15 PM How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (1967)
With the help of his handy guidebook, a window washer talks his way into the executive suite. Cast: Robert Morse, Michele Lee, Rudy Vallee. Dir: David Swift. Letterbox Format.
'Your face is a company face - it smiles at executives then goes back in place.'
Can't go past How to Succeed!
Could there ever possibly be a better channel than this EVER?
No.
They do everything right.
I'm sorry to say that we haven't been able to finish ALL ABOUT EVE. It started great, but we're at the party scene and we can't finish it.
We also started BEN-HUR which I saw in middle school. I don't remember all the Jesus stuff. Anything too religion turns me off. I left the church to get away from the bible lessons. We haven't been able to finish that later.
I'm really excited to watch THE SECRET GARDEN and THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA.
Thank god for Tivo!
I think I'll be watching TCM all day tomorrow. All three movies sound great.
"I'm sorry to say that we haven't been able to finish ALL ABOUT EVE. It started great, but we're at the party scene and we can't finish it."
Oh, nit.
God love you, but that speaks volumes.
The theatre scene and Eve's scene with De Witt at the end are the best part's of that movie. Pure brilliance.
It makes the Ben Hur comment so unnecessary.
'Little Miss fire and music.'
'I couldn't get into the girdle in two and a half hours.'
Et al.
I could watch All About Eve on a constant loop.
Excuse me if my tastes aren't up to par.
What's unnecessary about my Ben Hur comment? I don't care for religion.
"Night Nurse", while not a great movie, is a great example of plot lines no longer allowed following code enforcement. For that alone, it's worth watching. Three on a Match is another great example of plot lines pre code...a crack head mother who leaves Warren William to live in a tenement? Come on!!! How can you turn away from that?
TCM just released their second Forbidden Hollywood collection and both movies above are part of the set, as well as my absolute favorite Chatterton vehicle, Female. Get the set!
I KNOW you were all watching the Guy Kibbee lovefest on Thursday, right? Again, not the best movies, but great examples of why Kibbee was such a treasure as a performer. Aline MacMahon finally got a lot of screen time as well.

I missed the Guy Kibbee love-fest, but I do love him! I think he's one the best character actors ever to come down the pike.
And I just like saying his name, too. Guy Kibbee.
Those pre-code movies sound fascinating, justme2. I'll have to check 'em out!
