I too am excited about Paper Moon this afternoon. I haven't seen it in a long time. I love Miss Trixie Delight.
"A Charming Take on Old Movies: For his Essentials commentaries, Turner Classic Movies' Robert Osborne has been paired over the years with film legends such as Rob Reiner, Sydney Pollack, Peter Bogdanovich and Carrie Fisher. But a one-time guest host last year intrigued the Powers That Be: sexy and smart 34-year-old Rose McGowan, best known for her stint on TV series Charmed. Now she's this year's co-host with Osborne, starting Saturday at 8 with Billy Wilder's classic The Apartment. "Rose is a classic movie fan. Her knowledge blew us away," said Tom Brown, head of original programming for Atlanta's TCM. McGowan has shot commentaries for about 40 different films, from Laurel & Hardy's The Music Box to Steve McQueen's The Great Escape."

The ONLY problem I have with TCM is that it doesn't broadcast in hi-def.
I want my TCM in HD now!!!
Starting in a few minutes:
And later today...

We watched BOEING, BOEING tonight and we loved it. Except the ending. It was really, really sloppy.
I saw the play in high school but I don't remember how it ended.
nitsua,
We watched it too last night. Wasn't Jerry Lewis especially "subdued"? I didn't care for the ending either, and I couldn't help but laugh at the somewhat dated jokes. I'm glad this is getting a revival. I'm seeing a local production of DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER (originally known as BON ANNIVERSAIRE) this weekend, which I've also never seen on stage, and I'm looking forward to discovering more of the works of Camoletti.
I sure hope the revival of BOEING-BOEING doesn't play the awkward sixties humor like the dreadful BAREFOOT IN THE PARK revival a few seasons ago.
The only Jerry Lewis movie I remember seeing is CINDERFELLA and I remember how funny he was. He was very subdued as Robert and, while he did a good job, it wasn't great and they could've used someone else. He's talents were underused, if used at all.
I thought the movie was hilarious, but they could've done something with the ending. Running away and leaving the women to themselves isn't an ending.
I did some reading up on the revival, and was the script rewritten, or were characters changed for the movie?
Now Playing - THE MUSIC BOX
LOVE The Music Box. I also enjoyed watching Some Like It Hot the other night. I hadn't seen it in a while and forgot how incredibly funny it was.
I was watching Sabrina last night. I recorded it off one of the HBO channels, but still TCM-esque.
Today I am DVRing Roman Holiday at 2PM and All About Eve at 8PM.
Rear Window is on at 6PM. Greatest Hitchcock film.
I love Rear Window. Thanks for the heads-up!! I think that and North by Northwest my favorite Hitchcock films.

They just aired All About Eve not too long ago. Why do they do that?

Good day for TCM!
No Irish-fest? Or does that start later?
They're showing Pot O' Gold, Three Cheers for the Irish, My Wild Irish Rose, The Fighting 69th, and Young Cassidy tomorrow, besty.
Well, there ya go!
My old, very dear (sadly departed) friend has one of the main roles in My Wild Irish Rose.
Andrea King. She plays Lillian Russell in it, and she's absolutely wonderful.
Wonderful pic 12!
Shouldn't SWEET ROSIE O'GRADY and LITTLE NELLIE KELLY be on?
I love that pic. It's from the opening number in the movie where she sings "My Evenin' Star" with a bunch of chorus folks surrounding her. A nice big number.
That jewelry she's wearing is REAL. It was a big publicity stunt at Warner Bros.
Trying to make Miss Russell look "historically accurate," like she was bedecked with gifts from Diamond Jim Brady.
They had two armed guards on the sets at all times, with all her jewelry in the film provided by Van Cleef and Arpels. Lots of cross-promoting, to be sure! It was written up in the movie magazines at the time.

Roman Holiday is one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies. And Gregory Peck? Yum.
Anyone catch Libeled Lady this morning? Being a big fan of Myrna Loy and Jean Harlow I had been meaning to see it for ages and I finally had the chance. Cute movie.
