I thought the episode was... Alright. I sorta get where people who prefered it are coming from--it certainly had a lot less mean spirited humour in general, and I actually thought the religious stuff was surprisingly handled fairly decently (loved seeing Hickey, too), although the priest's implication that gays were fighting for marriage and other stuff but not for church acceptance struck a wrong chord with me. Maybe Murphy is genuinely less involved after the early episodes, with his other two shows going--in one of the Horror Story interviews he genuinely sounded like he was feeling too busy to devote as much time to any of his current shows as he hyas in the past...
That Hollywood reporter article seems to re-iterate the recent Vogue one, although Murphy seems to have learned (or been told?) to tone it down a lot--in terms of how great he is. The photos of his house look like they modeled the New Normal house on it... I'm shocked.
I was THIS close to checking out the latest episode until I saw that gif.
Andrew says, "On second thought, this is what I think of Reginald Tresilian not watching my show..."
I could watch him do that all day.

What he's doing with his hand is funny, but even funnier is that the gif makes his head look like a bobble-head.

I *love* Pet Sounds. And Ellen Barkin should never reappear on The Next Normal again.

I love Pet Sounds, too!
Every time I see that gif of Rannells making the jerk-it motion, I can't help but wonder if he's got a really little one. That seems like some massive overcompensation with that gesture.

Oh, I am so pure of mind I assumed, with all the albums and the guitar in the background that he was doing some air fret work.

All my attention goes to Pet Sounds, as well. What show was he madly making wank off motions on? I would have thought it was something on Bravo, but I don't picture The Beach Boys being on Andy Cohen's shelf.
It's some Rolling Stones interview thing with Andrew & Josh Gad.
He's making the wank-off motion because Josh Gad is making fun of Andrew for his love of Gloria Estefan.
This past episode was perfectly fine. This was probably the most adult way Ryan Murphy has handled religion in any of his shows ever (even as an atheist fallen Catholic I found his portrayal of religion/Christianity very offensive). This show would be best serve writing Barkin off. Plus Goldie does not seem nearly as pathetic with her Nana's presence simply off-screen. I kinda hope John Benjamin Hickey makes a reappearance as the priest.

Every time I see the commercial for the upcoming Halloween episode with Shania doing a Honey Boo Boo voice I have a flashback to the episode with her endless Little Edie impersonation.
I know many loved her little Edie, but one scene woulda been cute enough for me--it did seem endless.

UGH!! The Little Edie impression was the WORST. I couldn't understand a single word she said, and I hated that there was no reason for it.
Was there a new episode tonight?
As Phyllis mentioned, pre-empted for a program on... Sandy.
Looks like it's not on next week either--so I guess they'll do Halloween, mid November.
The Little Edie impression was all I liked in the three episodes I made it through.
And I don't particularly like "Grey Gardens."

And those Gifs Joey posted only underscored my belief that man is flat out weird looking.
Just for those who are deeply upset that the Halloween episode won't be aired--when the show's back they're skipping ahead to a less seasonal episode, you can download it on iTunes for free (I believe--it's the US only) and find it to download in other free places...
(And if anyone's watching Go On, you can do the same with their Halloween episode). Proceed with caution...
