Between the recent problems & now rats running rampant in one of their restaurants in NYC, Taco Bell may be history. The rats were seen in a KFC/Taco Bell in Greenwich village
They were starting to get over their past problems but to see big rats running around in one of their restaurants. It is off my menu

Posted: 2/23/07 at 5:55pmThis grossed me out because I eat at the one in Greenwich Village a lot. I can see why they had a rat problem though. Everytime I went in there, the food station was always a mess. When making tacos, they allowed lettuce, tomato and cheese to fall all over the floor and they never swept it up. It was so gross. Now that this one is closed, I wonder where all the drug deals will take place?

Posted: 2/23/07 at 5:57pmI see rats all the time in the subway station, running around outside, but the footage they keep showing on tv is really gross! You can see around a dozen rats, seeming to be playing, climbing, etc. all over the place. BTW, it's just around a couple of blocks from where I live-oy!

In the subway is one thing. Mostly it is on the tracks where slobs through food & garbage all over. You occasionally see them on the end of a platform where the stations garbage is piled up
The system is underground so it is normal to see rats but at a restaurant ?

Posted: 2/23/07 at 6:20pmTHAT particualr Taco Bell may be toast, but not all. There is a really outrageously gross shut-down by the health department every year or so-- it's amazing how many times the restaurant reopens and the customers come back as if nothing happened.

There was a similar problem with a Dunkin Donuts in NYC a few years ago. Lots of media coverage of rats eating the donuts (NY Post, TV) but they survived. Many if not all of the Dunkin Donuts in NYC as well as the KFC franchises, are operated by Riese Restaurants. They also operate Pizza Hut, Nathan's, TGI Fridays, Tads Steaks, Charley O's, Houlihan's, and many others. I have seen cockroaches at the Dunkin Donuts as well as the Houlihans that was/is near Times Square.

Taco Bell is a real weakness of mine ... Crunchwrap Supremes rule! One of those, a burrito and a Baja Blast ... heaven :).
Their restaurants here have always been clean and well-managed. Rarely ever do I encounter a problem.

Posted: 2/24/07 at 11:16amI agree, the crunchwrap supreme is quite delicious, but it helps if you are under the influence of some sort of drug or alcohol. I hope Taco Bells in Seattle are better managed than NYC.

Posted: 2/24/07 at 11:27amThere must be an open sewer line for all those rats to pile into one place. I would think the critters are in most places in the Village and I will refrain from eating in that area.
