Bumping this thread to ask about Nutrisystem. Has anyone tried it? I really want to for the new year, but I had a few questions. See, I live in an apartment, so the whole "deliver-to-your-door" doesn't usually work for me. I've had so much trouble with UPS it's not even funny. If it's USPS, then it might just go to my mail center, but I wasn't sure.
Secondly, how strict is this diet? I mean, if you go out with some friends and don't eat one of the meals, does it completely throw you off?
Thirdly and most importantly: how does the food taste? I don't want to pay for it if I know I'm not going to touch it. In other words, if it tastes like plastic, I most likely won't stick with it.
Thanks in advance for any insight. Happy Holidays!

The main reason I am on WW and have stuck with WW is that it's the only "diet" that is about committing to a lifestyle that fits in anywhere at anytime with any food. Slip and eat some cake? No problem--budget it into your weekly points.
You have to find a way to live---not a fix that is a temporary lifestyle. Most people stop doing the Trimpsa or the SlimFast to live a normal life upon goal weight--and gain it allllll back. The diet has to be a way of living. You will eat now at your fat weight and still eat that way at your skinny weight.

I just started Weight Watchers Online this fall, and I have to say it makes a lot of sense. I am definitely losing weight, it's becoming noticeable even to people who see me every day, and while it isn't easy to re-progam myself after years of bad eating habits, it's better than anything else I've done.
That said, it's the holidays and it's all a pain in my shrinking ass.

No, I don't but I suggest going to the website and checking it out. There is a ton of information there.
But since it is all about a healthy diet, I'm fairly certain you could do it without endangering your health.
And if you have any doubts at all, speak to your doctor.

Soapy, always check with your doctor, since you're at risk for a chronic disease that's dependent on your diet.
I am now officially and comfortably wearing size 10's.

Congrats, Rath.
I have been working out--and def see toning happening. BUT, I have been eating sooooooo much holiday food. I have slowly gained a few pounds these last few weeks. I can't really tell that I have by looking in the mirror--or more reliably, by how my clothes fit (well--sorta), but the scale doesn't lie.
So, I guess I will have a great NYE resolution: Get back on the WWW (Weight Watchers Wagon). I'm actually starting today as it's my weigh in day/start of the week. I know that NYE will be full of naughtiness. But, I'm going to try to save my weekly points for that night. And, I'm going to start implementing some rules starting today:
No snacking at work (this is the worst because there is always incredible food/desserts)
No eating 2 - 3 hours before bed
Alcohol only once a week and only 2 drinks (yikes!)
Drink way more water
Avoid diet soda
Keep naughty foods to my weekly points--they can not filter into my daily points
I think those will be good to get things rolling back down.

Started doing some extra workouts to make up for my Hanukkah and Christmas indulgences. Yes, we celebrate both holidays so there's double the eating and merriment (and believe me, the potato latkes weren't doing me any favors, though they were tasty)...
Beginning tomorrow, back to fruit, not chocolate for me!
I just donated a bunch of skirts and slacks to charity. They were too big. It felt kind of good, even though my closet is looking a bit spare!

I was very concerned about getting my duffel bag with a week's worth of work/casual/dance clothes and accessories back up my five flights last night, but shockingly, I walked quite briskly up those stairs, only having to stop once, at the 4th landing, for about 5 seconds.

Good luck, Colleen! I resolved to go to the gym 2-3x per week in 2007 and I really want to stick to it. I think it will make the most difference in helping me reach my goals.
rose_pearl, just be careful with Nutri-System. To be fair, I'm not sure how the program works now, but it used to be that you had to eat ONLY their pre-packaged crap, excluding fruits and vegetables which you could eat outside the program. I did NutriSystem when I was 23 or 24. Within two months I developed gallstones and several painful, major attacks! I had to have laparascopic surgery to remove the gallbladder, which was really unpleasant. My doctor said it was because I was on NutriSystem and that he had seen a lot of that happening.
P.S. Congratulations, Rath!

Also with nutrisystem, a friend of my mother's tried the program a few months ago and she found the food disgusting and inedible. This woman's mother offered to take the food, she couldn't eat it either. Her husband, whom is considered the human garbage disposal, also couldn't stomach it! My mother offered to take it as she has done every single diet program under the sun before (including losing 70 pounds with Jenny Craig, and trying nutrisystem with moderate success about 15 years ago). She couldn't force herself to eat it either!!
It's not going to work for you if you can't even force yourself to eat, let alone be satisfied by, the food selection.
