I'm with the boys. The scale is like my lifeblood. I have to have it to keep myself on track otherwise it's really easy for me to procrastinate and just say "oh, I'll eat better tomorrow." If I see the effect of my eating everytime I step on the scale it's easier to keep going.
And, this diet coke cake intrigues me....

I had a temp job for a couple of months last summer/fall, and there was a doctor's scale there. That's how I knew I lost the 30 lbs. But now I don't have access to one, so I am winging it.

Try it, Colleen. It's good without icing.
A bit sticky, really, but that's ok by me. Just be sure to coat your pan well with pam. I tried some kind of double chocolate mania of some kind and it was well worth the stickiness.
The bonus part is, of course, that you pretty much count the serving nutritional information for the mix only since you're adding absolutely 0 calories, fat and sugar to the prepared final product.
Also, I weigh everything, including my food, Colleen. I found near-instant results by eating the suggested portions of food only.

Yes, I'm very careful of which ones I go for. Slim-Fast and South Beach are good.
What's amazing to me is that most of the "diet meal bars" out there are covered in chocolate. WTF is that?

Well, chocolate's not automatically bad, you know.
In fact, I have some cocoa that's REALLY tasty (organic) and, made with skim milk, has less calories than most any other drink you could have outside of water. But I'm just talking about the fact that most of those things taste like cardboard butt and have the nutritional value of a candy bar...so why pick the crappy one?

I always have granola bars of some sort on hand. They are great for taking on the go, and with my travel schedule, it helps to have these on the plane (since the only snacks on planes are gross or too small!)
I like the classic, old-school Nature Valley crunchy granola bars. Two slim ones in a pack - I think it's about 3 pts for the 2-pack. They are pretty filling. I like the maple brown sugar flavor and the oats & honey flavor.
I haven't tried the South Beach or Slim Fast bars. I will look into that.
I did not care for the Kellogs Smart Start bars. Too sticky for me. Kind of like a heavy and overly chewy rice crispy treat.

My thing is--I've gained about ten pounds since the summer, but I have been working out the past 6 weeks. So, while I look pretty damn good, I'm a titch heavier. My hope is that when I quit eating like a spawn of Fat Satan, the fat will melt away to reveal a muthaf***in' hottie.
