Everytime Gimpy criticized "Bammy"'s inexperience, how did any sentient beings not immediately think of Sarah Palin? "Bammy" is the Bill Gates of experience compared to her.
I also have no idea why Gimpy keeps using that "I will make them famous and you will know their names" line. Was that a popular song from the flapper era or something?
Let's face it, Gimpy really doesn't look like he'd last a term.
I will admit I learned something in this debate. I had no idea Gimpy had been a Prisoner of War. You'd think that would have been brought up before this. Must've been Gimpy's September surprise.
I also have no idea why Gimpy keeps using that "I will make them famous and you will know their names" line.
Agreed, worst line. At one point the "them" in that line was referring to pork barrel vetos.
I thought to myself, the they have names for each one of those?

I hate that McCain uses the POW thing so often. And obviously I understand why he does it, but that's why I hate it: because it's EFFECTIVE. Heck, even for ME, watching his Republican National Convention speech, I couldn't help but be pretty moved when he was talking about his experience as a POW and stuff. It IS emotional and heartbreaking. But that still doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him for President. But unfortunately I feel like it MIGHT kind of sway other people's votes.
(for the record, McCain's RNC speech was very effective, but Obama's was freaking EPIC
Seriously, that man is just... he's a better orator than he is a debator, but get him orating and my LORD there is nothing more inspirational)

He does? Jeez, where have I been when Gimpy was bringing that up? I never noticed.
"...how did any sentient beings not immediately think of sarah palin?"
because sarah's the veep candidate and this was boys night out. we can discuss her after she and joltin' joe have their little go 'round. oh wait, sorry, this election is about sarah palin and nothing else. i forget sometimes.
i do like the gimpy name, namo. although, i would have gone with just the gimp. i hope it catches on. i bet most of america would think it's high-larious to make fun of injurious suffered while defending this nation. maybe they can start using it on kos, or americablog or myddd or thinkprogress.

Papa, McCain's first real decision as the GOP candidate was to choose Palin. I would not belittle that mistake! Would you be comfortable to wake up in September 2010 and learn that Palin was President of the United States?

Namo, I heard about McCain's POW history about 2 weeks ago.
Former president "hopeful" Fred Thompson did not shut-up about it for atleast 5-10 minutes during the (I believe) GOP convention. It kind of gets annoying after a while. Don't get me wrong the guy really is a full on hero but something that happened 40 years ago constantly thrown in the public's face can get old. McCain makes it sound like he's better because he was a POW, and that Obama's a (for lack of a better word) P---Y for not being in an active war and getting captured by "the enemy."

I think Gimpy is much friendlier and chummier. But wait. You mean it's uncool to make fun of a person for things he had no control over and that had an impact on the rest of his life? Like being rendered a gimp or being named something "weird"? Huh. Never thought of that.
But Gimpy will never take off. So I wouldn't worry about it.
brd, i'll say it once more for the cheap seats:
i'm fine with president palin.
yep, namo, there's absolutely no difference whatsoever in making fun of a person's name and making fun of the fact that a person has permanent physical disabilities resulting from him being tortured for 5 and a half years as a prisoner of war. none. just like it's even cooler to make fun of palin's baby, trig, just because ya hate his mom worse than cancer.
but i realize that this is all - the endless threads, the hyperventilating, the all sarah all the time, the viciousness - is just an indication that most of you realize deep down that bammy's gonna lose.

I think that I'm especially sensitive to the POW thing right now because I just recently saw Three Kings (amazing movie by the way, everyone should watch it) which... depicts some pretty HORRIBLE HORRIBLE POW experiences. And I fully recognize that going through something like that is... really effing brave and noteworthy and all that stuff. But it's just.. having gone through a horrible, terrifying experience like that does NOT say a single thing about your ability to run a country!! It just says that you're brave and withstood a lot. Which is completely honorable, but not enough qualification for the job of a President. And heck, in fact going through a traumatizing event like that would, if ANYTHING I'd think, give you MORE of a volatile temper and make you a WORSE candidate for maintaining calm, strong control over a country!

Good point snl89. The whole time he did seem a bit volatile and grumpy. Like if elected on a whim he'd just say "let's start a war with our new enemy CANADA!!"

I honestly don't think my use of Gimpy is any more or less harmful than the use of Bammy. I do not speak from any position of power so it doesn't carry any weight at all. Every time I read the word "Bammy" on here it's like frigging nails down the chalkboard from me. I think both are equally disrespectful and that one form of disrespect is not inherently more disrespectful than the other. In fact, to argue that Gimpy is somehow worse than Bammy smacks of a kind of moral relativism that liberals are usually mocked for.
And tonight is the first time I have called him that because I just read one "Bammy" too many. So Gimpy it stays, from me, on this board.
i think that i am especially sensitive to morons right now because i just read your last few posts which seem to lack any relationship with logic.
jftr, the above is not in reference to namo.
i think you should keep gimpy, namo, and like i said i really hope it catches on.

But that's the thing, it's no more or less likely to "catch on" than Bammy.
So I'll use it here. A reductive tactic to diminish someone I don't respect and perhaps to get under the skin of those who use the same tactic towards Barack Obama? Yep. Oh well.

me? Sorry... perhaps it made better sense in my head? lol. But I did think that my last two posts made sense at least when put together. What I was saying (or meaning to say at least) is that the constant use of the POW deal is frustrating to me because it IS effective (hence the "I'm sensitive to it" comment- because I DO really get effected hearing POW stories, and McCain's is certainly a poignant one). But it SHOULDN'T be an issue, because it really has nothing to do whatsoever with his ability to run a country. And, like I said, if anything I'd think it would be mental torture enough to cause permanent personality traits that would NOT be good in running a country. Obviously if that's the case it wouldn't be his FAULT in any way, shape, or form, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.
So yeah... was that really that confusing? :/ I wasn't aware that it was so incoherent as to warrent a "moronic" label

Not enough deference there, Little Missy. You zip your lip until you acknowledge what a hero McCain is at the beginning of every sentence you write about him! HOW DARE YOU! Not doing that would be like Gimpy not wearing an enamel flag lapel pin during the debate.
it saddens me, namo, that you would sink to those tactics. i had hoped that you would stand as a shining beacon of what political debate should be. in my heart i prayed that you would not toss aside the very standards that make you different and noble and just. now it makes it seem like you're just part of the game; a cheerleader for the very type of caustic and brutal rhetoric that diminishes debate to nothing more than juvenile name-calling. it makes my heart hurt.
