This thread is everything. I haven't even actually read the blog yet.

This man is hilarious. His distain for a "non-equity national tour" on his resume is hilarious, yet he goes to the audition anyway? Also, what part could he possibly play in a non-union tour of the show? Hm.

It was not me. I love all of his excuses and telling us all how he is living in the city. And maybe he should consider going back to high school to get a better education. It is his own fault that his little youtube videos are public. Not any of us. You don't want people to make fun of you, don't post that stuff.

And, maybe I'm dumb, but since when are the characters in Rent stereotyped? It might be written in that a character is a certain ethnicity, but I'm not sure what he was getting at with using that as an example.

I think we're actually the ones who have made it. We've certainly made a difference in the way he writes because the amount of errors on that post were drastically down. How cute that he purposefully said "maid" instead of "made." I'm sure all those other f*ck-ups were on purpose too.

My favorite retort to racism is "I've dated XYZ" or "I say that to my (insert race) friend all the time." Making jokes about stereotypes are perfectly fine...if they're funny.

And I had the same thought about RENT. Never once did I think "how very dare they have a Latino stripper." Especially when they're showing a straight, white male with AIDS. Good try though.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but the stereotypes used in Avenue Q and BoM while offensive are FUNNY and framed in irony? Both are essentially commentary on the offensive.
