Perhaps the reason Karmel Allison was there was because as a diabetic, she has had issues getting health care. She has insurance with Kaiser, but it has been precarious. Her ACA experience:

One of the necessary items every insurance policy must have is maternal benefits. Yeah it really makes sense for people in their 60's & 70's to have to pay extra for this.

And, I am sure many of the benefits you and your wife would claim are foreign to those in the 20's, 30's and 40's. That is what an insurance pool is - a large group of people all spreading the costs, benefits and risks around.

Your wife could be all signed up for health insurance by now if she had called customer service.
They ask you when you call if they can enroll you over the phone.
But I guess arguing about it here is more important than your wife's health.

The health insurance I currently have has maternity benefits. You do realize that isn't an "obamacare' thing right? Health insurance is pretty much off-the-rack, you don't build a custom policy with ONLY the coverage you want.

I live in California. We have a pretty good website which is easy to access. I know rates will vary greatly from state to state. But if you want to very quickly get a rough idea about the costs etc. here you can go to Covered California.
You can enter a phony zip code. In San Diego that would be something like 92130, 92037 ,92109 92121 etc and a menu will come up listing all the plans, out of pocket, copays etc. You will have a rough idea about what the fees are here.

500,000 signed up but at the same time insurance providers in 2 states(California & Florida) drop policies for 460,000 so their is a net gain of 40,000
