The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer

I'm just doing a public service, Jordan, so no one can bitch that the winners of the games in the first movie were spoiled.

This trailer seems to be about the first like 15% of the book. I know it's still early, but I was surprised that there's really noting in the trailer about what the main thrust of the second book was about.

I was disappointed to not hear the Alicia Keys classic, "Girl on Fire" during the trailer. It isn't used enough.

I think Alicia Keys owes Suzanne Collins a big, fat royalty check.

I was happy to see that they're including more of their return home and the tribute tour. While not the center of the book, it is important in opening Katniss' eyes to what she's started.

It looks very good and I cannot wait to see it this November. It is disappointing that Gary Ross was not able to return as director for this film. He did not think it was possible to shoot the movie from September to December 2012 because Jennifer Lawrence was suppose to start filming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' in January 2013.

However, that film lost its original director and production was delayed till April 2013. I also think it was delayed due to James McAvoy doing 'Macbeth' in the West End at the beginning of this year.

So, this movie extended its shooting till March of this year.

Gary Ross probably could have done it after all, but I will give Francis Lawrence a chance.

Robbie and Phyllis, I thought the same thing about the trailer. I was like "Huh?" That's not really what the book was about? Even my son who has read about 2/3 of the book was confused. After he finished it, I might have to read it again.

Most of the trailer is in the second book. It seems unfamiliar because they've expanded the role of the tour and they're bringing in the themes and imagery of the third book to make the wild transition a lot more palatable to a wide audience. General consensus says the third book is the worst because it's so tonally different and ambiguous. I personally loved the third book for being that ambitious and, pretty clearly, the films are not going to shy away from the politics of it all.

Spoilers for the 2nd movie/book ahead:
Another reason why they probably don't have any scenes of the Quarter Quell in the trailer is that it's kind of a big spoiler. I remember reading the book and being rather shocked that they were being sent back. So if they feature scenes of Katniss and Co. in the games, it kind of takes away from that.

I think the trailer does a great job at building suspense for those who haven't read the books and have only seen the first movie. The movies have the advantage of not being stuck solely in Katniss's perspective, and that final tag line from Donald Sutherland/President Snow does a great job at setting up the Quarter Quell without flat out giving it away for those who are not in the know.

I didn't realize the third book was disliked--I probably enjoyed it the most. The second was too much of a retread IMHO personally.

on the WHOLE I liked the 3rd book but did get a subtle sense of push moving things very quickly (deadline?) Actually- Collins time lines totally suck and w the extension to 2 films for book 3 i think that problem will be solved ( altho others may appear ;D!)

I definitely need to re-read the book. I hope I didn't delete if from my kindle.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer

The fact that the first movie was the sort of empty spectacle that the first novel made fun of has completely turned me off from ever reading the subsequent books. Just the posters alone for the first of the seventy-six planned sequels nauseate me to look at. Go away, HUNGER GAMES INDUSTRIES INC. LLC.

The trailer that I saw at the movies this weekend was the most detailed one I have seen thus far. I cannot wait to see this movie.
