I watched Project Jay last week and was expecting another installment last night, but Bravo premiered Top Chef instead.
On a side note: is it really necessary to give Blowout and Jonathan a third season?
Ugh! I am so disgusted by that ham Jonathan...I liked the first season for the other stylists and their stories...but had to stop watching last season cause he was such a p**ck. He doesnt strike me as someone who has matured past age 12.
How was Top Chef?
sorry! I threadjacked and didnt know it ;(

What's Blowout about?
Jonathan Anton (sp) a hairdresser in LA. First season he was opening a new shop...last season he started a hair care line. Both seasons he treated everyone around him like crap.

Ah. Thanks. I think I'll be skipping this one.
His ego is so big, it broke my tv set. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about him. It would be interesting to see how many stylists are still with him as it looked like virtually no one returned from season 1 to season 2! OMG, did I just admit to watching this show!!
Now back to Project Runway. I'm looking forward to the next installment and it would be nice if we're given updates on the 3 finalists from time to time.

I agree Dottie.
I just listened to Tim's podcast. I love Tim Gun. His podcast is awesome. He sounds like a really great and supportive yet tough mentor to have and I love how he interacts with the designers. He keeps saying that he's gotten criticism from some for being too supportive, and maybe he is, but I don't think he's easy on them either. I sort of disagree with him regarding Santino because I don't think Santino should not have won just because it'll make Project Runway 3 Project Freakshow (though if he had won, I don't doubt that that was going to happen) but I thought it was based on his past performances and the problems of the collection itself. I disagree with Tim regarding the greatness of Santino. I mean I get what the judges were saying about him toning it down throughout the show and why they were disappointed at his actual collection. Tone it down does not equate trying to do something totally different and boring.
I would be interested to see Santino's clothes (heck, all 3 designers' clothes) in person. I suspect there is more going on in Santino's pieces than we could see on TV. Subtle changes of material, construction, stitching, etc.
Santino articulated anger that they mis-understood an attempt at subtle refinement as being too boring. I imagine the clothes that he showed weren't "boring"--an immaculately detailed little black dress isn't "boring" to someone who cares about clothes--but they certainly represented a drastic change from the usual Santino style.
Interesting that my Tim expressed surprise that the judges objected to the fit of Santino's clothes. He felt that everything was great when he saw the clothes backstage. I'm not sure what to make of that--the skirts and dresses moved beautifully with the wearers, but those tops--oy! Perhaps my Tim doesn't have a lot of experience with women's breasts either....

BTW, here is an excellent Tim Gunn interview at out.com:

granted yet again that i am a big santino fan, i only found two dresses to have awkward fits in the tops (and remember that he was missing around seven models for fittings)
i was dissapointed that the judges failed to notice that, evening gown wise, Santino made the most beautiful and well made (especially compared to Daniel's boring final piece and I won't even touch the issue of Chloe's designs) his first piece, the red gown and the final gown were MAGNIFICENT and i don't think he was recognized for that

It really is a matter of personal taste isn't it Human Torch? Because I felt Santino did have some great designs, but I don't think they were that great in movement. I also felt that when he wasn't great, it really wasn't good.
I still think one of Chloe's pantsuits was perfection.
Again, it's just personal preference, and I can't tell someone they're wrong if they loved Santino's line because just because I don't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
However, I do think that what hurt Santino was that he did not perform that well throughout the actual competition and this isn't only about their final line.
I'm sorry, kids. I'm just in a cold sweat from reading the out.com interviews. Single. Badly hurt by a previous relationship. (I'm a big caretaker) A wannabe ARCHITECT! Oh my god. I need to lie down. We are so meant for each other...
I finally got a chance to listen to Tim's pod-cast last night. Wow, very informative. I wanted to see Kara's show, but the video never downloaded onto my computer.
I thought Kara's was the best, funky, fresh and well made...but i also thought Chloe's was the worst until I saw all three on tv. I appreciated hers alot more on the models going down the runway. All of her models looked comfortable (even in those puffy sleeves) because they all fit so well. Santino's looked okay in the photos, but a mess on the runway.
I really think it finally came down to the way they answered describing their vision...Santino and Daniel couldnt make sense and Chloe admitted that she wanted to show her dream collection. She didnt bulls**t.
