re: The Official 'brag about your best roles' Thread :-)

I loved every part i played.but the parts i think i really showed my skill in were jud fry -"Oklahoma" and the baker-"into the woods". as jud fry i took on the character i had very little rehersal.my director was really great.i requested to have only 5 rehersals to mark the specifics.then for the next three months i became jud fry.during the performance the audience expected me to play curly. when i made my first walk across the stage people gasped.it was amazing

i took the baker very lightly up until tech-week.by the time we opened ,i had worked things out so that every night i gave a different performance.during no more one night i started sobbing. i looked out into the audiance and caught half the audience crying as well.that was the moment i knew i had become an actor.

some other parts i've played include
emile-south pacific
val-babes in arms
billy-no no nanette
bobby-company
daniel-once on this island

I've never actually had a real leading part yet (and I've been doing theatre for 10 years now). I mean I've had decent supporting roles and such, and my absolute favorite was Veruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So much fun.

Next year, I think I might be trying out for Maria In WSS. I'll be 17 by then, and I'm afraid I'll be too young. However, I guess my name came up at one of the director meetings (but it was just because I'm a dancer, and the choreographer will be out of town for a couple of days and she would need somebody to help run the dances). So I have to blow them away at audtions! I don't even look Puerto Rican, but whatever!

and the Musician in Twelfth Night. Cause I got to be in every scene and be in a Shakespeare show without having to memorize Shakespeare.

Spot Conlon in Newsies was by far the best experience. The show sucked, but I felt like I did a really good job.

I loved playing Mrs. Kirby in You Can't Take it With You.

And the Dormouse in Alice in Wonderland was so much fun!

Smokey-Damn Yankees
Angie The OX/Ensemble: Guys and Dolls
Major Holmes- Secret Garden
Mordcha: Fiddler On The Roof. {the 2nd time around I had way more to do than in our middle school junior version. Much fun}

All amazing parts.

I got the role of Karen Wright in my school's production of "The Children's Hour" :) I'm pretty jazzed about that.

I haven't had a lead in a musical yet, but playing Maria in "NINE" was something in itself just because I got to be on stage for about 90% of the show and I got to sing the beautiful score. Plus its rare for a theatre to put that show on due to obvious reasons.

hedy larue in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying was by far the most fun role to play due to entrance music and they had all the lights change to red when i entered and that was sooo much fun.

hmm.... the lead in foibles and folly (a play noone has heard of b/c our school is so cheap!) and the narrator in Joseph (just found out today) as a freshmen in highschool!

My favorite role so far has been Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie. It was such a fun role and the cast was awesome.

Ohhh I really want to be her. She's hilarious. "Speak to us oh beautiful one. Show us how you make that glorious sound that even now in anticipation of it has reduced me to snarling raging panting jungle beast!" My school is doing Bye Bye Birdie this year so there's a chance I'll get to play her. However it's doubtful since I blew the dance auditions.

The Cat In the Hat (Seussical) would def. be one of my favorites. The role was so much fun to play because I got to switch personalities (and accents) all through the show. Plus, we had an awesome cast that really fit their parts. It was also the first time we had sold out a musical, so that was insanely exciting.

My other favorite role was Katisha in "The Mikado". My character was larger-than-life acting and I had a blast with the delivery of some of my lines and actions. It was a really fun show to do and now that I'm in college, I've discovered how unique my school was to do this show, which makes it even more special to me. :)

Definitely:

Lucy - You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Adelaide - Guys and Dolls
and
Dotty - Noises Off!

Other shows were fantastic, as well. Those defintely take the cake, though! ;]]]]

I also did a monologue from Lady Macbeth last year for my city's Shakespeare contest. It was so much fun, I loved playing her, I'd love to actually do the show.
This year I'm doing Hamlet, and I just finished a monologue from David Mamet's Oleanna, when I told my vocal teacher about all of that she was like "Who the hell do you think you are?"

I really enjoy doing shows where I get to have a fun accent. I really enjoyed playing Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man. Also, even though it's been several years, I really enjoyed playing the part of Tessie in Annie. Playing an orphan was fun! A few of my other faves have been Lady Dorothy Knolls in My Fatal Valentine, Queen Eleanor in Robing Hood, and Amantha in Bull in a China Shop.

(other roles: Coach Zigler/Mrs. Rakin in the Baseball Show; Yyvonne in Captin Fantastic; Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music; Rachel in Star Song; Aunty Em/Recptionist #2(fun role...dressed in all green including hair and makeup with a Brooklyn accent!) in Oz!The Musical; Mrs. Webb in Our Town)

So excited! I was just cast as Lauretta in Puccini's Gianni Schicci (I get to sing the famous Aria "O Mio Babbino Cara") and as the opera diva in Sicillian Limes (which means I get to wear an amazing costume!!) we are doing them as 2 one-acts on the same night.

I'm so happy...I'll be taking tons of pictures :)
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
