re: The Official 'brag about your best roles' Thread :-)

I'd kill to play:
Riff in West Side Story (and I almost got the chance to...but my parents made me go on vacation opening week)
Tommy in Tommy (I'm doing the show, but I am a freshman, and seniority always gets the lead role)

not trying to brag (yeah right) but i'm pretty much gonna rock out linus in yagmcb. if only our charlie brown would do the same. it's annoying when you are better than your lead. fun, but annoying. i also loved being hugo peabody in bye bye birdie last year.

For musical, Jimmy Smith in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Our Millie was a fantastic singer, and learned alot from her throughout the process of rehearsals.

For straight plays, Johnny Cade in The Outsiders. Loved it! The audience loved it. He's such a strong character and was fun to get into character with him.

Vocally, I was really nervous to be cast as Frederick in "Pirates of Penzance."

But I worked my butt of and, consequently, kicked butt. =)

(And my range grew TONS as a result of singing that stuff!)

I guess my most "prestigious" role was Nina in "The Seagull" with a professional repertory company, but I think the most fun I ever had was when I got to play Rose Mundy in "Dancing at Lughnasa" my senior year in h/s. Older and mentally challenged in an Irish brogue. Fun, fun, fun ...

Well I think my favorite role would be Young Ebenezer in Scrooge. There were three scenes which covered meeting Isabelle, falling in love with her, and loosing her. It was so much fun to get to show the audience why Scrooge is the way he is. It was also such a challenge though because if I didn't do it right, the audience wouldn't feel bad for Scrooge. That was a really fun and challenging role.

Other favorite roles have been Friedrich in the Sound of Music, a Cagelle in La Cage Aux Folles (even though i blew out my knee on tech night).

And right now im in rehearsals to be a Shark in West Side Story. So that is gonna be really fun.

I had a BLAST playing Vera Carp in Greater Tuna. More recently, I played Teiresias in Antigone, which was a great character part, and right now I'm Meredith Parker in Bat Boy, which is turning out to be my favorite role yet!!!

Costanza - Enchanted April (The role is entirely in Italian)
Seargant - Pirates of Penzance
Dorothy - Wizard of Oz
The Flowering Tree - The Lotus of the Heart (folktales from India)

The last one is from my high school where we did experimental theatre. the character was actually a girl who became a beautiful flowering tree so that her mother and sister could sell her picked blossoms of extra money, she then falls in love with the prince, but his sister was jealous so she ravaged the girl while she was in the shape of the tree, because of that she wasn't able to return to full human form until the prince found her again and married her.

Mortimer in "Arsenic and Old Lace" polished my comedic timing among a group of some of my favorite peers

Albert in "Bye Bye Birdie" introduced me to my own voice

Cast of "Floyd Collins" most rewarding and challenging production I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of

Tiny Tom of "Urinetown" most fun I've ever had on-stage and in an ensemble. If someone would have offered me a one-year contract in the role, I'd have signed it in a heart-beat

When i was younger i played Baby June in gypsy, and last year i played Chava in fiddler. I loved it so much. It was great playing such a dramatic part at the age of only 14 lol.

Mayzie in Seussical the Musical
Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast
Cookie in Rumors
Kristine in A Chorus Line

Those were my most fun, etc.

My all time favorite so far was probably the Jester in Once Upon a Mattress. The cast was amazing. That was the year my best friend graduated and she played Fred and, agh, she's so beautiful.

I'm now playing the Cat in Seussical and I'm having a BALL. I hope it proves to be as much fun. :)

Call me Travis. :)

Hah. Okay, this should be fun.
I've played:
Princess Winnifred the Woebegone in Once Upon a Mattress
the Witch in Into the Woods Jr.
the Stepmother in Cinderella
Molly in Annie (I was eight.. =D)
Fluff in Honk
Narrator in Aladdin jr.
various other chorus roles
and I am currently rehearsing as Zaneeta for my schools production of Music Man (shameless plug for everyone in the Ohio/Michigan area, show dates are Feb. 29 - March 2!)

And hands down, Winnifred was my favorite role.

oh. and by the way, I'm 15.
and I'm rather proud of my accomplishments.

Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes... I have never had so much fun in my life!!! I had a new costume every time I went on stage, and we had a huge rotating set with the band sitting up top in sailor uniforms. They hated it of course, but it was perfect. Seriously, that. was. insane.

re: The Official 'brag about your best roles' Thread :-)

My best role has been Javert in Les Miz. It was the best thing i've ever done. Especially the help from Norm Lewis who was Javert as well at the time.

My best friend has had it made. He has been Bill Snibson in Me and My Girl, Munkustrap in CATS, Jean Valjean in Les Miz and Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde in Jekyll & Hyde. There are many more but these were just the ones i was in as well.
"Men like me can never change, Men like you can never change. No, 24601. My duty's to the law - you have no Rights. Come with me 24601. Now the wheel has turned around, Jean Valjean is nothing now. Dare you talk to me of crime, And the price you had to pay. Every man is born in sin. Every man must choose his way. You know nothing of Javert. I was born inside a jail, I was born with s like you, I am from the gutter too!" ~Javert
