It's the one with the greenish hue to it from the front of the OBC album. I've seen the poster on eBay several times, always as a tour promotional poster.
As I posted on a certain LJ community earlier, I actually do like Daphne overall as Mimi in the OBC (at least from what I've seen and heard, which admittedly are only bootlegs). I haven't really cared for her in anything else that I've heard, and I feel her voice has changed for the worse over the last ten years. I think she's very overrated and I've always had a suspecion that some people say they like her mainly to be "hip" or "edgy" (not everyone, obviously), but I'll always like her in the original cast.
You spit on me? OK. You're forgiven.
It's amazing what you can find on there if you do some searching. I haven't seen the big OBC one in a while. It's usually expensive, like misschung said, and I can never justify spending THAT much on a poster.
Lexi - I feel the exact same way about DRV, that's freaky!
I was just teasing you a little. It's like you have a love/hate relationship.

That is odd, Tink. I don't even know how to explain why I feel that way, and I certainly don't want any fans of hers to think that I'm accusing them in particular of liking her mainly because of that reason, but maybe what I'm trying to say is that some girls seem to be drawn to her because of her "badass" attitude rather than her talent alone. And hey, I can't really judge when it comes to things other than talent factoring into how I view certain performers as well.
As for the love/hate relationship, I think that applies to how I feel about her when reading interviews and the like as well - she either seems to express herself incredibly well or just make me wonder "where the hell did that come from?"
I've just never understood the fascination. I don't like her voice that much and the "bad ass" attitude just annoys me and seems fake. But to each their own. Some people think the same about Adam. She will always be "the" voice of Mimi and I will respect that.

Yeah, like it's kind of contrived and forced? I can see that.
With Adam, I think he ADMITTED that he was trying to be something he wasn't with the badass, rockstar attitude, and not to put the guy down, but I think anyone with a brain could have seen through that anyway. Not that he doesn't have those elements to his personality and music at all, but come on.

I like Daphne. But, I like almost everyone, and take almost everything with a grain of salt.
I missed all the Adam/Raul funtime. Cowboys! I laughed.

Even with people I truly like, I always feel like I need to put certain qualifications on my admiration of them. Adam somehow escaped this, but considering the amount I poke fun at him, I guess it all evens out. Also, certain attitudes and statements tend to either really piss me off (or, in rarer circumstances, warm my cold little heart) or I don't invest any emotion in them at all. Extremes!
We can go back to funtime after you complete my requested Adam/Raul background. After you finish the patriot one, of course.
Adam's "bad boy" moments used to make me raise my eyebrow and ponder, but it has just turned into "awww, he's trying be big and bad" adorable moments.

Well. I guess we have the benefit of hindsight, but he was still so smiley and blonde.
I like Daphne's first CD, the "unreleased" one, a lot. It feels like an honest expression of herself with no posturing to speak of, but she no doubt has her blind spots and weaknesses like everyone else.
Ooh, I want to see the Adam/Raul background.
I respect Daphne as Mimi, but there are others I'd prefer to listen to. Currently I'm a little obsessed with Marcy Harriell, though generally and not Rent-specifically. In her post-Rent performances, it bothers me that Daphne seems to sing everything in a coquettish, little-girl voice. I guess that's her shtick, but it's not my favorite thing.

exactly. In that interview last week when she discussed the Rent movie, she said on one hand that the problem with the film was that "Chris Columbus wasnt the right person for the job" and then two lines later said that she would have made x, y, and z sacrifices to be in the movie " if Chris had wanted her to." I was like "huh?" I think that's part of why I liked her as Mimi in the OBC so much - she had that way about her where she could be a little bit of badass but also had that tiny bit of flakiness/naivete to her. Part of it was the youthfulness of the entire cast, too, I think, which is why Adam's whole bad boy thing worked back then, but it wouldnt work now. I haven't seen Daphne in anything since Rent tho, I am curious to see her version of Fantine.
about her "down in the dumps comment" she was talking about what she was doing before she got cast in the NYTW version of Rent - she was in that band or something. The same time Wilson said he was working the graveyard shift as the dispatcher.
finally done with take home midterm!

She left the cast of Les Miserables a little while ago. There's an incredibly well-shot video of her performing her character's signature song on a certain site, though.

Yeah, I was so suprised she took that part
I was sort of surprised that they offered it to her. She's not the first person who comes to mind when casting a classical vocal role.
I suppose they were taking a calculated risk, hoping her acting would pull her through while bringing in a different part of the Broadway audience.

That's not such a contradiction to me. She may have wanted to be in the movie despite feeling the director wasn't right just to put her interpretation on film and be with her old friends and castmates.

I understand what Daphne was getting at, but that's so easy for her to say now that she has the benefit of hindsight. Seeing that she would have killed to have been in the movie, she obviously didn't have such a deep-rooted problem with the director from the start. Since the movie wasn't a success, she has the luxury of making statements like those and being able to look "right." That entire paragraph about Columbus just struck me as a giant "I told you so!", even though she obviously would have JUMPED at the offer to reprise the role of Mimi on film if anyone wanted a pregnant 42 year old to play a 19 year old. Her statements regarding the film in that interview, while understandable, were an example of something she says that just rubs me the wrong way.

Exactly.
Chloe - I understand what you mean about her taking on the project to be with the rest of the OBC despite Columbus' direction.
But the types of sacrifices she talks about - like all the postpartum stuff - was pretty intense, and rubbed me the wrong way too. And she said in that broadway.com interview that she hadn't even seen the movie, which I thought was strange considering she wanted to be a part of it.

I guess she's just not ready to see someone else-Rosario-playing her part in something that will immortalize Rent. I wonder...if Daphne hadn't been pregnant, would she have been cast?
I wasn't around for Adam's "badass" rocker moments, but I'm glad he's being honest with us (and with himself) now. I like how he makes light of it.
I love the Rosie video. I've never heard Glory sung like that, but it was a nice arrangement.

Yeah, I hear that. I don't know if she would have been cast if it werent for her pregnancy, but somehow I don't think so.
My mom actually came up to me this weekend and was interested in watching the Rent movie, because we had been talking about the play, and I was like hmmm.... to see or not to see
Adam may be cute, but that is about it!!!! It hurts me ears to hear him sing. He sounds like he is in pain!!!

aw.
I actually am curious to know what kind of vocal training he recieved after he was cast in Rent
If it hurt him to sing, he probably wouldn't do it for a living.
