Smile for Ted Koppel, Officer Martin...

seriously though, that's out of control. Someone needs to spray these fans with a "chill the f out" gas. I don't think I'll even bother sticking around afterwards the next time that I see the show.

Wow, sounds like it got out of hand. I would not have liked to be in that crowd.

That's pretty scary, I hope no one was seriously hurt (sans the lady who broke the barrier...grrrrr).

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

No, I was there last night, and it's no exaggeration. My friend and I decided to try the stagedoor - bad idea. The crowd was enormous and hyped up, and I couldn't see anything. The screams let me know when Anthony came out. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13! That was when I decided I should get out, but I couldn't move an inch, literally. Same story: shouting, pushing, all that. The energy went up a few levels when Adam came out, and then it was complete pandemonium. I switched places with someone and Adam signed my program, and then someone practically shoved me over the barricade. Absolutely wild. And yeah, some lady got over the barricade and ran up to Adam (who was like, "whoa, nice to meet you!") before the cops pulled her back and told Adam to get back inside. I've never seen anything like it, but it's all part of the experience, I guess.

That being said, the show was fantastic and more incredible than I'd ever imagined. Finally seeing Adam and Anthony up on that stage doing those parts had such a surreal quality to it. I think it will be extremely difficult to see other people in those roles in the future.

It's great that you enjoyed the show Ariella. The stage door sounds really scary, though.

I'm glad you survived it Ariella, that sounds like a pretty rough situation to be in. Did the woman get arrested then?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Last night's stage door sounds out of control! What did that woman think she would gain by breaking through the barricades? I'm glad you made it out in one piece, Ariella. I wouldn't be surprised if there are changes at the stage door starting tomorrow, although I really can't think of any way to make it safer for everyone involved besides not having Adam and Anthony come out at all.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I apologize for just jumping into the conversation, but it is my opinion that if Adam never comes out to stagedoor again, a lot of these people have no one to blame but themselves. If even grown women can't be trusted to behave in a respectful way, it might be better for everyone if Adam and Anthony donned disguises and snuck off every night. Although I hate to think what might happen if they were recognized.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

No need to be sorry. You say you hate to think that'd happen if they were recognized, which would be a valid concern, because, yeah, they'd get mobbed. But I always wonder where the sense of entitlement that makes people get angry when actors don't stage door even COMES from, you know? People get pissed off because they feel it's their right to meet these people, which is it not. It's a privilege -- and frankly, I agree that if people can't behave themselves and be trusted to maintain a safe atmosphere, it's one that they should lose. But that's what's happening with Adam at his solo shows; he doesn't want to put up with the bullsh!t and I don't blame him. It just sucks that the crazies ruin it for the rest of us.

Um, I liked Tim, but seriously, the two of them are not even remotely comparable. I've seen a lot of good Rogers -- Tim included -- but Adam is one of only two who I think really GET him.

If things like this keep happening, I honestly think they shouldn't come out at all. Though the disguises could be kind of nifty to see if that happened re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I doubt she got arrested, but my visibility didn't extend much beyond the back of the person in front of me. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

There's definitely a lot of excitement in waiting for the actors to come out the stagedoor, and sometimes I really enjoy it. But when the crowd is as large and wild as it was, it's far from the interaction people might imagine. If you're lucky, someone passes your poster up and you get an autograph - it's not a question of "meeting" Adam and Anthony like that girl wrote on myspace. I've been extremely lucky such that I've met Adam before (thought not Anthony), so perhaps I didn't feel the same urgency as many others there. Adam and Anthony were extremely patient and gracious, and it's gratifying that they appreciate their fans.

I'm pretty sure Larry (as in Edoff) was there last night, sitting a few rows in front of me.

Didn't someone want a high quality version of Emcee's avatar? If so there is one on the website, but it still has that weird striped border.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Can you get arrested for that?

I wouldn't blame Adam for not stagedooring again. I just hate that other people, the "crazies", have to ruin it for everyone else.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

The sense of entitlement is incredibly disturbing. Not only do people get angry when he doesn't come out, from what I have read there is no respect for personal space. As someone with a very definite sense of personal space, I can't imagine willingly putting myself in a situation where I know people are going to try to get as close as possible. In a situation like what is happening at the Nederlander, you see him, he sees a crowd.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I can't think of anything specifically that the woman could've gotten arrested for, aside for breech of peace. I would imagine that she didn't suffer from any consequences, which is unfortunate because now everyone else will. Like GuitarGirl said, there's always one person who ruins it for everyone else.

I think a lot of fans have gone into the Rent stage door as of late with super high expectations. There is no "meeting" of any kind going on, and there's no way it can happen given the sheer number of people waiting. In a situation like this, some people tend to get that "I want it NOW!" Veruca Salt type of mentality going, which is clearly how that woman last night was thinking. Just because you want to have some amazing chat with Adam and Anthony doesn't mean it's going to happen, and obviously some people can't handle that.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Good analogy Luckystar! That's EXACTLY how some of the people seem to be acting, which I find all together rude and very childish. I wish some people would really clean up there acts, honest to goodness.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I could go on for ages, I wrote a paper for a class last semester comparing society today to Veruca Salt. The sad thing about it is the fact that the people who are acting rude and childish are old enough to know better.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I have no complaints with a large, enthusiastic crowd (although it's not always my ideal setting), but the Rent stagedoor is approaching a frenzied competition. Still, I hated to hear people leaving the stagedoor, saying that not getting to meet Adam and Anthony "wrecked the evening." Seriously, people - you've had an amazing opportunity to see two of the original castmembers back in their roles, and you're mad that Anthony didn't strike up a conversation. Stagedooring can be so special sometimes, but it really shouldn't usurp the show for highlight of the evening. We're there to see Adam and Anthony in the SHOW, right?

It was unfortunate that the lady's dive over the barricade put an abrupt end to the evening, but the manner in which she appeared and Adam's bemused reaction were quite funny, actually. Heh, just like Veruca Salt going down for the golden geese, LuckyStar.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I hate that people are acting like that. They shouldn't be acting like children. It's rude to the actors and to the other people present.

You have to love Adam's reaction, though.

Yeah, exactly. I know what that kind of disappointment is like, and I understand it, BUT if the disappointment of NOT meeting them is large enough to overshadow their performances, you are there for all of the wrong reasons.
