Yay GG!!! Have an amazing time!!!!


I have wanted to see RENT again for a while now, but honestly had no desire to see Howar. I know people here love him, and that is great! But for me, from the clips I saw and heard, he was not for me. Not saying he wasn't talented, just not my type. Yes,, I know, I should have gone and seen it live for myself before making that conclusion, but the money was spent on other shows (some bad, some good).

I saw Tim early in his run... about two weeks after he joined the cast. I really liked him, and his performance, at that point, was free of a lot of the complaints people started to have about it as he settled in.

It's hard, because... I love that show, but if not for Adam and Anthony, I wouldn't have been ready to go back yet. I'm so grateful to them, because they have reeled me back in and made Rent some... theatrical-mecca type experience again, rather than one that's familiar and comfortable. And after they leave, I probably won't for quite a long time. I just... now that I've seen them, I can't imagine being remotely fulfilled in seeing it without them.

Heh, I had a dream about the show last night.

I agree, Emcee. For the longest time, "going to see Rent!" became some sort of pilgrimage for me, though prior to Adam and Anthony's return I was starting to feel distanced from the show. Seeing those two perform gave something very important of the show back to me, but now I can hardly imagine Rent without them. They've set the bar so high that I think I'll need a long time before I go back to the show with a new cast.

Someone posted a very nice comment on Adam's myspace - that she doesn't normally like or relate to Roger, but his performance last Monday changed that. I would think that's one of the nicest things anyone could say. I checked out her page, and found a really great quote. It is so, so true.

You learn that most people are neither for you nor against you. They are thinking of themselves. You learn that no matter what you do, some people aren't going to love you. A lesson that is at first troubling, then quite relaxing.

Last night was electric. I don't know if it was just because I had close seats this time or what, but the show was amazing. They seem to just be getting better. Tyra Banks was sitting a few rows up from us. Adam was being incredibly playful last night. During the beginning of LVB, Justin kept poking his leg every few seconds in that "will you stop that!" kind of way. And Adam just had this big grin on his face. He started ripping the duct tape off the table, and then putting it back on, just weird stuff like that, lol. Later in the song when he is about to walk to the table for the erection line, he put his arm around benny, whispered something in his ear, and stuff. Just odd, but I am the kind of freak that would notice it. Still not a Nicolette fan, but Troy stepped it up big time. Loved him last night. Anthony = perfection as always. I loved being up close and seeing their faces and reactions.

Crowd was annoying. Applauding during songs and over little things. Buzz actually really enjoyed the show. He thought Anthony was really good and loved Justin. He said Adam was good "but too whiny for his taste". I tried to explain that was his character, but whatever.
Stagedoor is 100x better. The new layout really makes a difference (even if I was standing next to a dumpster). I wasn't going to stay but there was a spot right up front so Buzz pushed me towards it. No one pushing, screaming, nothing. At least in our section, we had an assembly line type thing going and everyone was patient. Total turn around from my last experience. D'Monroe, Nicolette, Tamyra, and Anthony came out. No Adam, boo!, but I'll live. Anthony was very sweet, but you could tell very tired! Still he signed and chatted best he could.

I was going to resist and try to take September off w/out seeing it again, but I don't know if I have the willpower!

Odd note - The chick next to me at the stagedoor (awesome and very nice) was telling me how before the show I guess Adam snuck out to do something. He supposedly bumped right into this young girl (not like bad or anything) and the girl burst into hysterical tears (like OMG he touched me type of tears). oy.
