Ooh, I forgot about that thing.

Knowing anyone has that kind of alert, it makes me just want to add his name to every single post I make. I hope it being obscured by HTML tags doesn't change the effectiveness.
Clay Aiken.
I thought some of you might be interested in this because I remember reading how a lot of you were not very fond of the writing on the wall of the Nederlander. (I agree that it looks awful)

That's upsetting about the famous Rent wall being whitewashed. The outside graffiti is one thing, but the wall is something else. I mean, in reality, there's not much else that could be done with it, but it's still sad.
“I don’t think it would work on any other show,” Mr. Curry said. “There’s a rebellious thing in the show.” (A whiff of pot floated by right then. We did not inhale, any more than was absolutely necessary.) “People write about how this show affected somebody’s life.”
Oh come on. It's one block away from the most-crowded intersection in NYC; no one is openly smoking pot outside the theatre around showtime hours, especially not amongst the current crop of regular audience members.
That is really sad. I don't really see why they can't leave it as a mark of the theater's history, or something. I'm definitely going to make a point to see it before the show closes.
trinaaron, thanks for posting that. I really wish they wouldn't paint over the whole thing...maybe they will find some way to preserve at least some of it...

lol, I wish people were smoking pot in Times Square. Maybe it would be a little less tense.
I think they should try to preserve at least a piece of it as well. Everyone's talking about how much the show changed Broadway history, but they're still going to paint over the whole thing? That's lame.
I think they should preserve the wall. There's a lot of history on that wall, and to just get rid of it is like erasing a whole period of Broadway.
Painting over the obnoxious fan graffiti is one thing, but painting over the wall in the alley, which has been a tradition pretty much since the show opened, is an entirely different one. If it's not generally accessible to the public, why not leave it? It's not like a defaced exterior, which should be cleaned up nice and new. (Though I can hardly imagine the Nederlander without the green paint and the artwork on the outside.)

Right, that's what I mean. Unless the new show moving into the theater plans on using that wall for the very same reason and/or another reason that requires a clean wall, what harm is there in just leaving it alone?
One of coolest part of my backstage tour at the Hilton was the one wall back stage has bug logos of each of the prior shows and everyone's autograph's on it (Chitty, Ragtime, 42nd Street)...kinda like an on going memory keeper. Sure they are no longer playing, but it was cool to see the history alive.
I wonder if they'll take the doors off, as mentioned.

I have a feeling the doors will be a nice auction item.
They sold the old doors at the BC/EFA flea market two years ago.
Didn't they sell a Daphne door this year at the flea market?
They had a bunch at the auction last year.
I heard they sold a large Bobby as well....
Did they? I can't seem to recall...
I'm sure Fantab does.
Indeed she does
He loves you, too.
Bobby would wave, if only he had arms. Alas.

Yeah they sold the Adam door last year, didn't they?
Has anyone gotten their tickets for the Feinsteins show yet?
Oh, I should do that, shouldn't I? I didn't even realize they're on sale. It's so far in advance and I'm terrible at committing ahead of time, but I don't want to risk it selling out. Feinstein's isn't that big.
