They are similar, but I don't think they are the same.

Though, wasn't there one incident over the summer (at a Broadway flee market) where Adam was wearing a sweater previously worn by Anthony?

yeah, that track jacket thing.

Adam's jacket looks like it's corduroy though, and Anthony's is velvet.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I found a blogger's review of last year's Alive in the World production. He thought it had problems but also a lot of potential. One criticism was that the exposition "was muddled with nods to Rent and Hair," not something I would necessarily dislike. He also felt that the character Kate, as played by Marcy Harriell, was too Mimi-esque. Interesting.

I have a question for our handy Alive in the World source, if s/he is still around. The Zipper's seating plan is pretty unconventional, and it's not clear to me what (if any) difference there is between the $100 and $150 seats, aside from going to the reception afterwards. Also, possibly an oversight, but why are the $150 seats not listed as reserved, while the others are?

For me, it's not so much that the nods themselves would be a problem, but it's about the execution. Things like that are more effective (and pleasing, I think) when they're very subtle. If you're too obvious about it, as they may have been (based on what I know of Goodman's work), it feels tacky. I really, really like his work, but sometimes the bluntness of his lyrics acts as a serious fault.

Is anyone planning on paying the extra $$ for the post show reception on Sunday?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I'm thinking about it for Monday, more because I'm not sure how good the lower priced seats will be than because I want to go to the reception. Those situations feel kind of awkward to me. Obviously it's a small place, so it's not so much a matter of being closer as the angle of those side seats that concerns me.

I wasn't sure whether the reviewer objected more to Rent itself or to the way in which the references were made. His mention of Kate as "far-too-Mimi-Marquez-for-my-taste" led me to believe he wouldn't appreciate any reminder of it, but you know more about the composer than I do. I would imagine that with the addition of two characters the show has changed quite a bit anyway. By the way, I notice that the latest press release doesn't mention Melissa Errico, so maybe she had to drop out.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I was momentarily considering the whole reception thing, but I imagine it being a fairly awkward place to meet someone. I doubt any of the performers, including Adam (if he even goes), are going to initiate an in-depth conversation with any fans wondering around. Plus, expensive. Waving to Adam with a drink in my hand is not worth the extra $50-100.

At this point I'm so excited to see Adam sing new material that doesn't sound like it was written by that ponytail fucker that I'm not even concerned with whether the show is legitimately good.

It's something I wouldn't hate to do if I was feeling particularly ballsy, but it's a moot point, since I can't really spend the extra money.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I don't even have the extra money to spend, but at this point, I'd care more about getting a better seat than going to an after party. I guess I don't do well in those awkward situations. I'm just glad that I'll get to go at all at this point, no matter where I'm sitting.

Poor college students unite!

I'm kidding, none of us are actually poor, but as far as extra spending money goes... I still have to watch myself thanks to last summer's Rent binge.

Also, jokes aside, shouldn't Alive in the World be listed on Adam's official site by now?

That's odd. By now it should be, at least.

Voices For Rent is now closed, in other, sort of Adam related news.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yes, it should of course. Maybe Adam's off somewhere for the holidays right now. Neither he nor Cybele have responded to anything online for a while. I've noticed because I'm curious to see how she'll respond to whoever was complaining about people mentioning Adam on her blog, but so far she hasn't.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yeah, I mean, it's not ideal, being that her career is not "Adam Pascal's Wife," but it's gonna happen, and there's kind of nothing you can do about.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yes, in the past she's said she's fond of Adam's fans, as long as they're not wishing her dead. Here's the post. It seems like a big overreaction to me. The mentions of Adam have been infrequent and mostly relevant, as in whether Cybele would be at one of his upcoming shows so the poster could get her autograph in the cookbook.

Is there some sort of forum where everyone can take their apparent pent up sexual frustration for Cybele's husband that isn't her own blog page? I can't speak for anyone but I'd think that reading post after post about him would be extremely tiring to read when she's not managing a site for him. Even if she doesn't directly state that it is, how about a little self-cotrol? Sorry -- I don't mean to start anything but I think people could use a reminder to think before commenting. Cybele, please remember that some of us come to look at your page for its intended reasons rather than to ask questions about your husband.

I haven't been checking it in the past few weeks, but I had never really seen anything crazy posted on her blogs. I remember thinking in the beginning how shocking it was. I was expecting to see more.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

That seems a little over the top and inappropriate, but I agree with the general sentiment, and from what I've seen, comments left by his fans (even the ones that don't explicitly mention "Adam") are always so obvious to spot, like a certain mother posting pictures of her dog "on behalf of her daughter."
#3819

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

In the long run though, there's nothing wrong with a little crossover. Fans of Adam bring more traffic to her site and add to her sales figures, and people who look at her blog because of the cookbook might decide to check out his music. It all seems pretty innocuous, and any signs of "sexual frustration" have certainly eluded me.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yeah, that definitely seems like a bit of an overreaction. It's not as though -- to my knowledge, anyway -- Cybele's blog gets flooded with comments from 13-year old girls blabbering about how zomg, they luv Adam soooo much. Yeah, maybe some people only do visit the site for the tidbits about Adam, but the mentions of him on there may be irrelevant, but they're pretty innocuous. They're more comments of curiosity than they are of "sexual frustration." They hardly have that intensity. And I'm not one to often stand up for his fanbase at large. But this is really not that bad.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I agree, but I think people who are looking at her website because they're a fan of Adam's should have enough respect to keep their comments topical. I don't think it's my position to be the one to say something though.
#3822

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I don't think any comments have really been shocking as far as I've seen on there. It's just annoying when you can tell that people are trying to get information about Adam through her, like when they just casually mention "her husband." There's nothing even wrong with it, it just doesn't seem like the place when her career is separate from his. Truthfully, though, if she had a problem with it, I'm sure she would've said something by now.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Speaking of sexual frustration, I have so had it up to the proverbial here with the psychos on Adam's websiiiite. I've said it before, but I've never seen so many stupid people all congregated in one place. I don't understand how he attracts such a large population of nutjobs who don't ever make any sense, or seem to grasp the meaning of things they type.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I had to stop going to the website, mostly because I would forget about that damn music player every time and scare myself once the page loaded. I never bothered to sign up for those boards, but all of the crazy in the guestbook was enough to let me know what was going on. I just don't get the need to carry on a one- sided conversation with Adam via the guestbook. I really don't think he cares what any of his fans do in a given day.

Based on the level of crazy that has overrun Adam's website, I've always been surprised that Cybele's blog hasn't been completely taken over by Adam specific comments. That one comment did seem a smidge harsh.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

That reminds me of this girl who decided Anthony wanted to hear about her entire day after one of his readings: what time she woke up, how long it took her to drive to the city, what she had for lunch...
