re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Judging by the timeframe of this album's release, I doubt it we would see anything for several years.

Even under the best of circumstances, these things take a lot of time. What if he and Cybele were to collaborate? I believe she's already worked on one musical. Of course collaboration is tricky for couples, and they seem to have stayed out of each other's professional lives to a certain extent so far.

I'd also like to see him involved in non musical theater as well.

Me too, Tink. I'm really hoping something happens with American Primitive.

I think collaborating, whether with Cybele or someone else, would seem like a good idea. I can imagine the task of tackling that alone would be great.

well I meant that as more I'd like to see what he could do in regular plays. A chance for him to explore characters not determined by a "rock voice". I know his acting has been criticized in the past, but hopefully his recent experiences have helped with that.

I'm sure Adam will be good in movies/TV, but I like him live. He puts off this natural energy when performing that is wasted on a non live audience, kinda. Know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean. Some performers are more suited for one medium or the other. He has an amazing live presence. As I've said before, it was really interesting to see him in the 24 Hour Plays back in 2005. Given how well he did under those very difficult circumstances, I think he'd be fine in a straight play.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Ah, I see. For some reason, I can't really picture what I think he'd be like in a straight play, but I'd like to see him have a try at it. I think his acting's improved a lot. I wonder if he'd consider doing a play for an extended period of time rather than a musical.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

well, I could be wrong but I don't think plays are generally work shopped, and runs for any play never usually exceed 6 lately because of big musical competition, so if he found a limited engagement with the possibility of extended, it could work nicely.

I'd be interested to see what material Adam would come up with if he wrote a musical.

I'd be very happy if Alive in the World turned into something he could appear in for a while, though I don't have a clue as to what the odds are on that. His part, such as it was under the circumstances, felt very right for him, and also something different from what he's done before.

I agree with you, Chloe. I feel like it's forcing him to sharpen his acting skills, and come up with a new characterization than what he's done in the past. I also think he sings it beautifully.

There's a very good thread about Rent memories on All That Chat right now. Nothing very specific to Adam, but definitely worth reading. Remember jimbo, the guy who originated a lot of Rent websites? He has an interesting post under the name penguin. It's good to hear from people who were around when the whole phenomenon started.

I've been so busy lately with graduation and everything else coming up that I haven't had time to have a life! I haven't talked to yall much lately. How have you been?

I seriously am still in disbelief about Rent, and even though I don't listen to it much anymore...I'm still really sad. I'm thinking about going to New York for my senior trip though...so hopefully I can see it one last time.

Actually, it sounds like you've been having a nice busy life, and I hope you're able to see Rent on your trip. I don't really qualify as a Renthead, but I've been reading some of what the real ones are saying. It's amazing how much emotion the show still evokes after 12 years, and fascinating to hear from some of the original fans. Even if they haven't seen it for a while, there's still a lot of feeling there.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I figured Adam would say something about Rent closing eventually, and he just did. It's really quite thoughtful. I've edited slightly for readability -

Rent Closing

Hello everyone. I feel I should address the closing of Rent on Broadway. I know there are many people who are very upset, and I understand. This show has changed many lives, mine included. However that fact is what is important. Going to see the show over and over again only allows one to remain longer in a fantasy world. What Jonathan would have wanted is for people [to] come away from the show with a renewed spirit, and take that feeling into the real world! To live YOUR OWN LIFE the way the characters in the show, the words and the music have inspired you to. It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. But where it truly must survive is in our actions, our compassion and our generousity of spirit towards one another. It is time for the next chapter in this story. I'm excited to see how this story continues to change lives through regional productions, High school productions, small community theater productions and eventually when my kids are old enough, THE BROADWAY REVIVAL starring LENNON AND MONTE as Mark and Roger. That would be something....

long live Rent!
Adam

Yeah, good move to end on a light moment. There's a thread about his blog on the main board. He's evidently impressed several non-fans with this.

Wow, that was very thoughtful He's right, though. It's good of him to bring that fact to light-that we should be living our lives in the spirit of Rent's message instead of staying unchanged.

I love the Lennon/Monte comment.
