I know you're all eagerly awaiting a review of Me and Larry from New Haven, so to sum it up: Someone in the audience fell asleep. I think that says it all.

Seriously, it wasn't as bad as I had mentally prepared myself for, but it was still far from thrilling. Luckily, there was an improvement in the schtick department, and we got to hear a lovely story about the hot 98 seconds of sex that Adam enjoyed more than a year ago. Seriously. Overall, it was an entertaining evening, mostly due to some amazing audience participation, dragon egg noises, and crappy British accents. And someone seriously fell asleep.

I will say that I'm not digging this Al Gore mother earth stuff. I'm fond of a halogen light bulb and recycling and all, but I don't want to listen to songs about it. Someone behind me actually laughed at some of the lyrics. You can definitely tell that Larry had a heavy hand in writing almost every lyric and note to every song. I'm just not a fan of him and the lame ponytail.

Last night, I joked that Larry Edoff is basically the layer of condensation that forms on your bathroom mirror after you take a shower - the same condensation that you just want to wipe off when you want to pop a zit post-shower. Today, I think Craww was really a bit more accurate in declaring him the condensation that forms on your windshield after a foggy night. The dirty kind that you have to wipe off your SUV with the help of chemicals that kill the environment.

No, really. Someone fell asleep. The songs which I typically enjoy are becoming less enjoyable the more I see it (which is admittedly mostly my fault), and I just do not connect to the newer new songs at all. I guess Blinding Light (the song) was probably the most decent. Adam hits all the notes in the new songs perfectly fine, but the overall effect is just not at all gripping. I actually found myself missing Beautiful Song.

I wouldn't make too much out of the person who fell asleep, as that could have been a tired non-fan who would have fallen asleep no matter what the show was like. The songs not working for you is another matter.

I can't help but feel like the show just isn't the same anymore because I've seen it so many times now. I was expecting to hate the new music after hearing some of the recordings from last weekend, and while it's definitely not my cup of tea, there were a few that I liked. Call your Bluff and Blinding Light were pretty good, and sounded much better live than on a fuzzy video. I thought Adam sounded better than he had earlier this week, too. He was wearing kind of a random outfit: The same khaki green colored pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a jean jacket (With big pink butterfly on the back). It took him a little while to get into the crowd, but once he did, there was a lot of joking around. Thank God this crowd wasn't as screamy as some have been in the past, so that was nice. Too bad Adam didn't hear the request for "Just Here.." and instead decided to have Larry play Bar Mitzvah music and dance to it.

It was basically the same story, saying that when he had come back from tour, he needed something very badly from her, something that was very hard for her to give. And she gave it to him. Everyone laughed, and he said something like, "It was sex." He then proceeded to laugh that, "it was the best 98 seconds of her life."

Hah, every was like "Aw, poor Adam," but my first thought was, poor her!

I think the whole 98 seconds comment was awkward for everyone involved.

I'd be kind of curious to know what some casual fan who had no previous knowledge of what they would be hearing thought about the songs last night. I didn't overhear any negative comments while waiting in the lobby after the show, but I also didn't hear anyone saying how amazing the show is either. While I guess I don't mind the new songs that much, they're just not my cup of tea and I know for a fact that if anyone but Adam was playing them, I wouldn't be listening.

They ran a big story on Rent coming to the Shubert in the Arts section of the New Haven register this morning. They clarified that Roger Davis was "the Adam Pascal part" which was amusing, considering that if any clarification needed to be given on who Roger Davis is, it should've been a description of his character and not that Adam played him.

Yeah, but isn't boasting your sexual confidence to an entire auditorium just inherently a little bit awkward? I mean, good for him, but kind of a weird thing to just... share.
