I'm tempted to go to Daphne's Joe's Pub gig on Monday. I don't even like much of what I've heard of her solo music, but I'd be interested in hearing what she sounds like in something live that isn't something in which I'm nearly convinced she's horrible, and it's only a few blocks from me.
I'd forgotten all about that show - thanks for reminding me. I'd like to go with you if you decide to do it.
Welcome back, Lexi! I'm glad your trip was so much fun.
The internet is painfully addictive, and the only upside of finals I can think of is that I spent days away from the computer.
Even if her music isn't totally your cup of tea, though, I think she'd be worth seeing just because she's such a great performer. I bet she puts on one hell of a solo show. She was so much fun at the concert she did with Adam a few years ago, so she'll probably be great.
Well we're going, so will definitely let you all know how it was. I hope Daphne sings my favorite, "Never Gonna Be Your Baby," though I suppose it will mainly be songs from her new CD. There's a video on her Joe's Pub page that shows her in a T-shirt with "Got Milk" across the chest. It's easy to see why she and Adam hit it off.
Wow! I've been here for one year. It's kinda weird to think about all that's happened in one year. Kinda crazy.
On the other hand, I'm about ready to scream because my mom won't drop the subject of getting me to find a job. I already have one, but my mom says it's not a real job because I don't get paid enough and I'm going to need all this extra money and stuff and she wants me working over the summer. I'm about ready to tell her to find me a job if she's so persistant on me getting one.
Happy anniversary, Dancinqueen! I don't know much about your particular situation, but as a general rule, the more experience and money you can put together early on, the better off you'll be, especially if you're planning to pursue a career in the performing arts. Just about everyone doing that has to go the "day job" route, so finding one that suits you would be a smart move.
I know I have to find a job, I'm not arguing with that. My problem is that I keep applying for jobs and I never get a job anywhere and it's kinda letting me down. So I'm just not really in the mood to be looking for a job when I'm not really sure if I can even get one.
Okay, sorry! I didn't realize you'd been looking and having no luck. That is depressing, but I know the job market is really tight right now, so it's not all your fault. When you're ready, maybe you should focus more on figuring out what it might take to get the type of job you would like the best, whether it's a few classes, a spruced up resume or dressing a certain way for an interview. Think of it as learning a part - the part of the kind of person who would be hired for that job.

How's life?
This whole near "real world" experience of student teaching has sucked away any semblence of a life or free time that I have...thus, me sitting around today and trying to do nothing!
It sounds very challenging. What grade have you been teaching?

Elementary Music, 1st-6th Grade. (Then the second half of this semester I'm going to be doing High School Choir). I'm having a blast, kids are awesome, my mentor teacher is awesome...Just doing the 8-5 thing (and really more than that with commuting and after school stuff) is so demanding...
Since this is an Adam thread, I will say on my drive this week I listened to Civilian for the first time all the way through in a LONG time...it was loverly...
Yeah, Civilian really holds up. I'm glad you're enjoying your work so much. That makes all the difference.
Speaking of Adam's CDs, I hope the new one isn't delayed any further than next summer. If Goyband is released they could tie in with the publicity for it.

Speaking of, is there a release date/time frame for Goyband yet?
Like many indepndents, it probably doesn't have a distributor yet. There was mention on their website of playing the festival circuit, which is the most common way of shopping for one. I just hope they succeed.

Today I bought a $50 sweater for $16! It was already marked down, but it had a rip in one of the seams, so they gave me another 10% off. Mom sewed it back up for me when we got home, and it's beautiful!
Okay, so, I ran into my leading man today at the grocery store. And his daughter who is only a couple of year younger than me, and I KNOW HER from choir. Oh dear.
Allie, that seems a little awkward!
I have an opinion question...For my birthday I get to order one Chatterbox DVD, and I was wondering which to order, the interview with Sherie Rene Scott and Adam; or the one with Michael McElroy and Adam. Any help would be great!
He's much more animated in the newer one -- and it's just him. So get that one, not the one with Sherie.
Will do, thanks for your input!
Yeah, I second that. But if you ever get a chance to get the other one, it's also worth it (I love Sherie).
